Taking the Tavor completely down for cleaning or even caliber changes is pretty easy to accomplish. I fully strip the Tavor down including removing the barrel in this video.

You know, to fully CLEAN the rifle, all you have to do is remove the action (one pin) remove the hammer group (two pins) remove the bolt hold open (no pins) and hose it out with water. Shake it dry, couple of drops of oil on the bolt, and reassemble. 15 min, tops. What a gun!

That means you no longer like most every rifle on the market. You do realize it takes a receiver block, special wrench, vice, punch and hammer to remove a barrel from a AR15? It takes a press and fixtures to remove a barrel from an AK. This is one of the easiest rifles to fully detail strip I've found outside of the SCAR and ACR (which requires no tools).

It's interesting to note that a full strip of the Norinco T97 bullpup is much easier...excluding removal of the barrel, of course, as that thing is pinned on! Love the bullpup reviews/vids, BTW.

As compared to what other rifles? AK? You'll need a press. AR? You'll need even more tools and a receiver block and vice. SCAR? You'll need a torque wrench.

I just test fired a new TAVOR and I must admit that I REALLY liked it! They will sell a million of these. I never thought that I would see a rifle even more user friendly than an AR but this bullpup IS...now if only we could get the price down...! I can see why you are excited by it.

Atlantic Firearms says they will be offering the caliber conversion kits "soon". Can't wait to get the 5.45x39 kit. One pin out, remove the action. Two pins out, remove the fire control group. No pins hold in the bolt hold open. Hose the barreled receiver out with water and goodbye corrosive priming residue. Even easier than my 5.45 chambered AR.

Thanks for the vid, Tim. Just picked up a Tavor this past week and shot it for the first time today. Shoots great, smoother than my AR or AK. Now I'm contemplating picking up an aftermarket trigger like the TAV-D but I'm in no big hurry. I think it's fuckin insane they didn't ship these rifles with that barrel wrench. WTF? Incredible.

Yep... But IWI loves selling the barrel pivot lock assembly's (which is only available as a completely assembled part) for $40 when many impatient Tavor owners use a "badly fitting" flat-head screwdriver buggering them up...and the other "hugely common" deal of shearing the little skinny latch lock from the barrel pivot locks opposite side off(part you "hopefully" lift with the punch before turning the lock assembly)... Starting to think IWI makes more in replacement Barrel pivot locks, and replacement dented charging rod assemblies than entire Tavors, lol PS: this was a nice complete video of the process.... Half of the popular videos out there that show the Tavors barrel removal (for those that don't know ore any to reference the Tavor armorers manual) are basically guided right into damaging the parts that I previously mentioned...

Thanks for the upload and clarification.. I read somewhere else that the takedown process takes much longer than this video.. The person also stated that switching the ejection port to the other side requires a trip back to the factory.. Is that true..? It's also nice to know that switching the charging handle to the other side isn't too difficult and doesn't require any other parts..

My point was, when I was running my rifle suppressed I had so much back blast of fouling that I actually had to completely disassemble the Tavor to get it clean. When I pulled the barrel there was so much fouling all inside the receiver it looked like a charcoal briquette . With my M4A1 all I had to do was pull the BCG and CH wipe those down, wipe down the upper and lower and I was done. This was after heavy contact that lasted 5hrs and I expended around 35 mags.

For me, it's useful to be able to clean every nook and cranny of the rifle. A detail strip of a heavily used firearm is generally a good idea. Will the average Joe need to remove his barrel? No. Do heavy users like me like the option? Heck yes. I also plan on getting a 9mm kit which requires a barrel change to install.

Love your channel (subbed). I was set to order one of these in FDE from Bud's until I saw this disassembly video. I have seen airsoft guns with thicker poly stocks. I am sure it's to keep weight down, but I think IWI was a little too lean on the thickness. Geissele dropped a Tavor from 6' (to test their trigger) and it broke the rifle. I am a huge fan of bullpups and own an AUG A3 and PS90, both of which would easily survive a drop (muzzle first) from six feet. The AUG stock is probably 3x the thickness and made from DCEF 1313.

Nice video Mach, I'm really hoping to score a Tavor in the near future, so anything you can tell me about this rifle is very helpful. I wish you mentioned how many rounds you've fired threw that rifle, and if you had any problems as of yet. I know you did your trigger job, so I was still wondering how that worked out, has accuracy increased, and has the trigger job caused any problems as of yet. Wish you would do one more video comparing the Tavor to other rifles, maybe the FS2000.

What was weird was the surefire cans have less blowback than the NT4 I had issued to me, and even then the Tavor was far more of a hassle to run and clean than my M4, at least with my M4 all I had to clean was the lower, upper and BCG. Much simpler than completely taking apart a rifle full of small pins and screws. My M4 was also not a piston(yeah obvious) and it ran fine suppressed even when I put around 35 mags through it over the period of a day.

*************** NOTICE ************* DO NOT attempt to operate the Barrel locking key on the side of the Tavor UNTIL you have removed the Charging Rod assembly. The Rocker Nut (that you can't see until you get it apart) will push UP on the Charging Rod - placing it in a 'bind', and you WILL bend it. In reverse, DO NOT RE-INSTALL the Charging Rod Assembly until you have re-inserted the Barrel, and locked it into place. You won't be able to do this - because the end of the Charging Rod will be banking the Barrel Lock down bolt, and you'll be wondering why it won't slide all the way back. Just remember this 1 rule - Don't attempt to Install or remove the Charging Handle Assembly until the Barrel Lock is in the 'Locked' position - taking it apart, or re-assembling it.

Im not sure how else to describe it but I know some people with the TAR 21 have reported black marks on thier faces the first time they fired them-not ment as a detraction as it seems to be a holding issue that isn't repeated at later range sessions. Yeah that's weird. Wasn't my experience. Ran fine with weak .223 reloads to factory XM855 62 grain 5.56. Blockback was more than with my piston AR (piston on the TAVOR is much closer to your face) but still not bad. Most of it was just fumes from the solvent that was in/on my suppressor, and not actual combustion blockback.
