@Super City FAR FROM NONSENSE... Fergie dodn't really spend as much as people think because he dominated the 90's with pretty much home grown talent. He only ever used to spend the odd 30 mil on a player with MONEY HE EARNT..that is all. He got Rio, Rooney, Van persie, Berbatov all for 30 mil...all the rest were 25 mil and lower...that was the standard back then...nothing much in all honesty. He got Van der sar, Evra, Heinze and Vidic for peanuts and he developed players like Brown, O'shea and Fletcher that used to play on the regular... His most expensive signings were Rio, Rooney, Berbatov, Van persie. Then Smith, Veron, Saha etc were between 15-25 mil and he signed players like Ronaldo, Nani, Hernandez, Park ji sung, all for cheap..bloke was a genius and everyone knows it. Just accept it.

I personally think United’s treble was better due to the fact that they won it with the team built around their academy graduates. Utd beat Arsenal to the title after they won the double the year before. Our fa cup run included wins against Liverpool, Chelsea and a semi final replay against Arsenal. Champions league group stages were harder we had Barca and Bayern in our group. Played inter Milan in the quarters and Juve in the semis. Serie A was the elite league back then. Beat Bayern in the final albeit very lucky to do so. Also as you’ve stated countless times over the last few years the quality of footballers now is awful. We played the higher quality teams and players. Look at city they beat Arsenal to the title who were never expected to win it. Their champions league run looks good on paper in terms of beating Madrid and Bayern along the way but them teams are dead especially Madrid with that aging midfield reminded me of Utd playing Giggs and Scholes in midfield v Barca in the 2011 final. But maybe I’m just biased I just find city a very boring team
