The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad is a National Historic Landmark. It is the longest, highest and most authentic steam railroad in North America, traveling 64 miles through some of the most majestic and spectacular scenery in the Rocky Mountain West.
Sharing ownership by the states of Colorado and New Mexico, the train crosses state borders 11 times, zigzagging back & forth along canyon walls, traveling through two tunnels, and steaming over a 137-foot Cascade Trestle. All trains steam along through deep forests of aspens and evergreens, across high plains filled with wildflowers, and through a rocky gorge of remarkable geologic formations. Prepare to be dazzled!

Cool to see the sramped metal ceiling tiles invented by my Grand Father when he was 20 years old, back in the early 1800's and shipped all over the world, made right here in Ottawa Canada about 110 years ago.

Wow! That is awesome. I noticed that interior treatment right away. Our old home built in 1911 had a faux version of that installed on the ceiling in our kitchen. We loved it.

The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad runs on a former Denver & Rio Grande Western railroad narrow gauge line going 64 miles long between Chama, New Mexico and Antonito, Colorado that was built back in 1880. I have been here back in July 2nd 2016, and July 3rd 2022. The railroad has many historical steam locomotives from the Denver & Rio Grande Western railroad. Such as Denver & Rio Grande Western 168 (Built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1883), 315 (Built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1895), 463 (Built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1903), 483, 484, 487, 488, 489 (All built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1925), 492, 494, 495, and 497 (All built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1902, originally as standard gauge 2-8-0 locomotives until 1928-1930 when they were rebuilt into narrow gauge 2-8-2 locomotives).

I enjoy your videos a lot since my wife and I have a 2008 Dutch Star 4304 and just love traveling and staying in different State Parks and Federal Parks. May I ask, what video editing software do you use?
@OurJourneyInMyles
@OurJourneyInMyles 10 ай бұрын
iPhone cameras are WAY more than enough. We use a 13 Pro Max and a 10x Max. Our DSLR camera is too heavy & clunky and doesn't look any better. We RARELY use our GoPro except for biking and outside the rig shots in the Campgrounds when driving out. You absolutely have to get an external mic & dead cat to get good sound and eliminate most wind noise. Bad sound = Bad Video You need a cheap plastic handle “rig” to hold the phone and the microphone easily. Camera digital stabilizer is good enough unless you are going crazy with movement. A Gimbal does not work with a large cell phone case, and I will not take my $1700 phone out of the case. A Gimbal is overkill x 2 plain and simple. If you have an Apple desktop or laptop, the FREE & INCLUDED iMovie software is great. If you work through learning that program, then graduating and spending the $349 (one time) for Final Cut Pro will be painless. (Apple owns Final Cut Pro) That is what we use,....Final Cut Pro. Its 50 times more than we need. Voice over is part of the software on your computer as long as it has a mic built in, as well as screen recording. We plug an external mic into the computer. We use a Blue Yeti. You of course need large SD cards and external hard drives to store the movie. We have over 70TB of drives. We also use (1) GoPro8. We just bought DJI wireless lavalier microphones for $350. All the cheap stuff we use is in our Amazon Store Page under “Camera Gear Section” so you can get an idea of the brands and costs involved. You will find the store link underneath the video display window in the description area of any of our videos. Our Amazon store link is also on our website: ourjourneyinmyles.com/ We wouldn’t change a thing on our setup so far. It's as easy as it gets. Every minute on screen is at least 1.5 hours of work. This excludes actual filming time. Good luck!
