Can you make a miniature English wheel out of a clamp? Today we'll answer that question, and more as I try to use an old c clamp, some scrap metal, and a couple dies from Harbor Freight.
Did this video inspire you to build something? If so, I'd love to see it! Please tag me on Instagram @full_steam_designs and Facebook @Full Steam Designs

great concept. I have a project that requires very little bead rolling. I don't want to spend a lot on an English Wheel to assist with the oil canning. this will be a perfect solve. thank you.

I couldn't help noticing that you do the same as l do. That is when working, you use your fingers to measure and guide you, at start of work....and through it too.😊 The reality is not a lot of people use that system.. However, you G clamp English wheel is really superb... Strong and effective.. 👍 Simon a Brit in Spain 👍👍

I made one about 35 years ago. I used some large bearings for the wheels. Used it to smooth out a couple of wrinkled fenders on a model A roadster. Didn’t want to take them off the car as it was a survivor race car.

Good job! I really appreciate your approach for those of us who are “tool deprived “. 😉 I know next to nothing about this tool. Is one wheel supposed to be slightly offset from the other? It looks like they’re not exactly parallel. Also, I wondered if I hadn’t seen some where the wheels were very slightly convex. Maybe there are different wheels for different results.

If ya gotta chuck up an end-mill, so what? I've seen them chowder no matter how rigid they were in a mill. I buy 2 of something anyway. Ground expanding concrete nails with end mills. There was an embedded plate I didn't want to damage with split points despite have to cut flush to it in a 1" hole three inches down to get the collar. Made the first one about smooth.

That’s awesome man, you should make a mini planishing setup with an air chisel/hammer next. Just use a cheap harbour freight one with a flat die.

I started working on one a few years ago when I was in South Dakota, but I left it there. I made an electric hand held one with a Milwaukee palm nailer. It could be cool to put it on a frame. There’s a video on this channel if you want to see what it is.

I think I'm going to build one and put a video on my channel I want to make a Miniature one just for display that's much smaller but works also. I have a few old clamps of various sizes I can use. Did you mention Albany NY, I was just there a few weeks back picking up a tool from someone on FB... You live in that area? Great video's. keep making more

Ive got a question for you car guys..on a scale of 1-10 how realistic of an undertaking would it be to get a car that my friend has been keeping in his garage since the 70s (its a 62 Pontiac .If I remember correctly.4 doors & not dented up all the glass looks ok ,not rusted out, it seems like it is on the small side to have come w a V 8 & a manual transmission)dk much about the car .it was parked when it broke down, not sure what the problem was & he can’t remember at this point.he’s bought 5-6 newer cars that weren’t expensive but needed work & paid a mechanic 3-4 k to fix them drive them a while, there is another problem(electrical almost every time) & just tarps it & buys something else) in the last 10 years or so.and more than that in the 30 years iv known him. I have some tools, access to a hydraulic lift and shop with just about any tool you would need & know 2 other guys that live real close to me that that would more than likely help me get back going if I got stumped by something. I drive and do some of my own work on 90s Toyotas .Not a mechanic by any means but I’ve gotten better through the years. Never owned a older car though. Just started thinking about it. Thx for any advice.
