I understand Ten Hag has been poor this season but, man, we’re in the second season of an “open heart surgery” rebuild with new part-owners, 6,000,000 injuries, and a squad comprised of players signed by 3 different managers and we expect him to compete for top 4 when there is EASILY 5-6 squads in the league better than ours, especially with our injury list. Not to mention we have literally one striker who’s in his first season, constantly injured defenders, underperforming older players (Casemiro, Varane, Rashford, etc.), and piss poor recruitment for the last 10+ years. Every manager post-SAF has failed, so why don’t we learn? Give him time and stop ditching a manager when soooo many other aspects of the club have to improve first.

Ronnie yet again speaking facts. Ten hag needs all his players to be absolutely world class or we're just expected to accept 1/10 performances against relegation battlers, bar Kane and de jong he's had every signing he's asked for and then there's the style of play thing we've seen this season 2 managers ange/emri both come to new clubs and get them playing a set style of attractive football. Ten hag has to go along side Antony and Rashford

Shouldn't the selling strategy just be the following? 1. Choose a style of play for the next decade. 2. Keep players who fit that style of play, and sell those that don't. 3. Gradually improve on the squad based on players' performance in that style of play.

Hi, im one of the owners of Man United so let me explain..its because he's a big name, England international, he's from Manchester..came through the academy etc. Last season nobody would dream of wanting to sell him so perhaps the club, unlike the fanbase, support our local lads/players who are clearly very talented but perhaps realise that the ENTIRE team is having a poor season. Imagine the regret if United sold Rashford to PSG and he started scoring loads of goals in a well structured club and team. That would be a shame.

I believe in ten Haag honestly. Most of the players who has featured this season are not his players. i agree Anthony was a mistake. Rashford, Casemiro under-performing is not on the manager. These players conceding meaningless penalties are not on him. I do understand that we cannot see a pattern of play here but it is his 2nd season. had this been his 1st season we would have been okay with it. Are we really punishing the guy for having a good 1st season? I believe he should be given another season under the new structure.

@@MiKroXL To answer your questions. I dont think Onana is better than de Gea. But it is just his 1st season in the league. It takes time for anyone in the Premier league. Pep thought Bravo would be a good fit in his 1st seasons and he was allowed to rectify it. Yes i think Bruno is a better captain than Maguire. He is the best of a bad bunch. Bruno does not allow anything to affect his game whereas with Maguire you can see it was clearly affecting his performance. Sancho is playing in the German league. Watch how much space and time he gets in there. You will never see that in the Premier League. And Sancho has been decent at best since he moved to Dortmund, he is not setting the world alive. And with regards to CR7, he was not the problem but it was time for him to go. He was 38 and he needed to realize it. Like always he put himself ahead of the team always. Him walking off the tunnel before fulltime and leaving the stadium before the final whistle were not setting good examples for the youngsters. I love CR7 and I still am happy that he came back to United. But it was time for him to go.

It's genuinely insane how at the start of the season, we saw glaring issues with the way we played and how open our midfield was. We chalked it up to injuries, form and so on. But how bad of a manager do you have to be to not have any strategy to combat glaring weaknesses in your squad. How is it the last month of the season and we still lose to the same old shite that we saw against wolves and how hasnt he drilled anything into this team to combat it. Dealing with injuries and changing tactics is part and parcel of being a good manager/coach and this guys done fuck all about it. I'm not a lover of Ten Hag, but we've become immune to how much of a mess we are. Casemiro and Maguire as a CB partnership is bordering on laughable. Then Eriksen who can't run playing alongside a teenager in Kobee. In attack it's two raw kids and Antony. Oh and the left-back is a right-back and the right-back can't really play football. And the keeper has only been here six months. It's a fucking disaster and no manager would make much out of it.

So were judging ten hag based on what? His entire defensive line is injured, he massively overperformed the previous season, he has to deal with player power, hes not accountable for overspending on transfers he suggested and at no point did he have a proper supportive structure to help recruit new talents. Now what he has brought is standards of discipline, make youth players breakthrough and dealt with more scandals, pressure and adversity than any premier league coach has. But sure, lets nail him to the ground and try to replace him with yet another rebuild project. How about ask the question first, how many of his selection players other than Antony who has actually caught good form now are even playing? Pretty much none because theyre either injured and have performed massively, theyre handicapped by the current style of play or because he hasnt had enough time yet to transform the club. Take those things into consideration before going on a witch hunt.

I've seen it time and time again on this channel and it's getting frustrating to listen to. I like Jay but he is most guilty of this. Every single time they talk about Ole's finishes in the league they caveat the 6th place finish by saying he came in midway through the season. However when they talk about Arteta, for a long time they said he finished 5th, 8th and 8th then 2nd. They've since changed it but they still say he finished 8th twice, without caveating that the first time was half a season AND that he won an FA Cup. It's so strange to omit these details and feels like for people who think rivals are not fair to us, they are not aware they are doing the same thing. Arteta's first full season was the one where a lot of fans wanted him gone, but when he finished 5th, the progression from his first season was plain to see. We laughed at them chocking and not finishing in the top 4 but anyone that had watched them could see the football they were playing and how with a few more signings they would really improve. I hate Arsenal but if we're going to have a fair and balanced debate about ETH and use Arteta as a comparison, let's at least be just as fair.

I think it's been clear from last season he wants his team to play high energy front foot football. Ideally he'd have had martinez fit and a better ball playing CB like pavard squeezing up and closing the space down. Unfortunately he's not had the CB players to do that. So he's almost creating the space deliberately because if the CB can't play higher up the pitch. So in an ideal world next season he gets the right additions in defence and midfield + a striker that can actually put away the 100 chances that bruno supplies then we are laughing. Because the front players are already accustomed to running, pressing, closing down and the gap behind them in far smaller.

In order to achieve long term succession we need a style that can progress. Seeing the short comings in the squad by playing an ‘advanced’ style highlights the recruitment needs. If we paper over the cracks by playing a primitive style, then it will never be clear where our recruitment strategy is to be focused and the long term success becomes even further away.

@FullTimeDevils Can you objectively make a comparison between Ten Hag's first 2 seasons with Pep, Klopp and Arteta. Please highlight the players Pep, Klopp and Arteta inherited from previous managers and how many of them left the club on 1st transfer and how many more came in and left in subsequent transfer windows. How many seasons it took for them to completely overhaul the team to their preference. Considering Man City had title winning team for Pep take over. Klopp had a mixed squad of Coutinho, Can, Lallana, Skrtel and so on. They had finished 6th before Klopp took over. Arteta had Aubameyang, Lacazete, David Luiz, Ozil and so on. Class and quality players nonetheless. 2020 Arsenal finished 8th, 2021 5th , 2022 2nd. Clear improvement and he was backed by the board. They didnt sack him just coz the fans wanted to sack. Us. Man Utd fans are just being influenced by the the media to get another manager sacked. This is no different than Mourinho and Ole times. Also, please mention the FFP constraint that Man Utd had to work with this season. Back-to-back FA Cup finals in his first 2 seasons is no fluke. Winning League Cup was no fluke. If someone with a team injuries totalling 60-65 this season alone can still get to FA Cup Final, i say give him another year with proper players.

So from this conversation we have worked out that Joe has an opinion of someone who thinks that the manager who ever it may be needs to be given time and have an understanding of situations might not always go to plan straight away. Where Ronaldo is like a lot of United "Fans" who believe that the moment a team starts to struggle, then there can be no progress and so start over again. With this kind of feeling then Jay's feeling of crying when we next win the league will never actually become a reality, because it just won't happen. Give a manager 5 years who ever it may be and just back however they are doing

Bruno, Mainoo, Garnacho, Hojland, Dalot and Onana should be kept. Major tournament coming up in the summer and it’s typically tricky to get deals done during that period especially if we don’t retain ETH and need to understand a new managers wants and needs for the squad We were scared of buying rice for the fee, it would have felt cheap based on form shown for Arsenal… and spent that much on Antony have to pick and choose where to splash the cash better and find good character’s who happen to be top level players. Lindelof is a fine squad player - I’d much rather we kept Mengi than have someone like Lindelof in the team

In all the chat about ETH does everyone forget that in 89/90 Utd finished 13th and won FA Cup, 90/91 finished 6th and won ECWC. It took time for SAF to put his team together. Before we finished 2nd in 91/92 we were still playing players like Mal Donaghey and Ralph Milne. No disrespect to them, but not title winning players. Replaced them with the likes of Kanchelskis and Paul Parker and we get closer and win in 92/93. Give ETH time

If Ten Hag had one or two CB’s that can play the ball forward and take the ball under pressure, we’d see a much improved style of play. However, we only have one in the entire squad (Licha) and he’s been injured nearly all season. The same goes for Shaw. Nobody else is capable of playing out from the back. Look how much we improve particularly down the left side when Licha and Shaw are fit. We barely have an attack down the right and that’s because the likes of AWB and Dalot are not great at passing or carrying the ball forward. If we improved in this area we’d see a huge difference. Also, Casemiro’s legs have fallen off a cliff. That’s not Erik’s fault. Onana clattering people in the box and having a blunder every other week, not Erik’s fault. No consitency with refereeing, not Erik’s fault. A freakish amount of injuries, not Erik’s fault. Having one striker who’s 19 and has come from Italy to the premier league, not Erik’s fault. Rashford’s form falling off a cliff, not Erik’s fault. Club overpaying for Antony, not Erik’s fault. Give the man the resources he requires and he will take us back to the top.

It’s honestly shocking how many players we’ve accumulated who are simply not good enough to be playing for this club. Defenders - We have 12, 2 on loan. The only ones good enough to stay are Martinez, Dalot and Shaw although he’s injured far too often and we don’t know if Malacia is going to be good enough. Varane is great but he’ll go in the Summer so that’s 3 out of 12 defenders who are at the level to be able to compete. Midfielders - We have 13, Bruno, Mainoo, Mount and Amad the only ones who are good enough, that’s 4 out of 13. Forwards - We have 8, Højlund, Garnacho the only players imo that are good enough. Rashfords playing as a LW and has 9 assists in 92 games, that is simply not good enough then there’s the constant drama and negativity he brings to the club, cash in on him. Anthony may be good enough as a squad player but not to start. Greenwood has the talent but not sure what Jim and co will do, so that’s 2 out of 8 who can start for us. That’s 9 players out of 33 players (imo). We are way behind with a huge overhaul needed, this will take 3 transfer windows to transform the squad. Scary how this has happened to us. Positive signs ahead though as it’s pretty clear the huge changes needed and Jim and co will or should be well aware of what’s needed.

What joe says at about 20 minutes in is what I’ve been saying. Last season we over achieved for where we thought we would after the garbage season before, he shouldn’t be punished for overachieving and then having issues outside of his control plague him all season. We are having last seasons problems this season and he should be allowed time under a proper structure and to see out his contract. Judge him when the club isn’t in turmoil. Back the manager. Top clubs identify when a player isn’t right for them anymore (or when the balance has tipped) while they’re still at their peak and sell them on for good money. We’ve been hanging on to them and letting them go on a free when they’re busted and/or have slumped so much on form they’re virtually worthless. It’s not sustainable. And if we’re going to have a fire sale, I can’t think of a better time.

The ten Hag argument, while all your lads points are valid, you all missed the biggest point. These players are doing to him what they do to every boss every 18 months. No gaffer on earth wants his team to be defensively open, play low intensity, lose the ball and not feed his only available striker. This. THIS is precisely why I'm ten Hag in for another season till this squad is 100% Erik's (after releasing problematic players like Rashford). His first season showed us what we can do when players put in just 80% effort

The ONLY argument I can make is that may be Ten Hag could have done better was don't do pragmatic approach last season instead of this this, essentially wasting an year. Manager cannot be pragmatic over a season if he needs to implement a style of play within let's say 2 seasons. He needs to be pragmatic in game to counter the tactics of other manager. Unless he keeps playing the system he wants to implement, he will never be able to find out which players are going to fit the style of play. Fixing the squad should be based on the style of players. I believe, There are very few "bad" players in prem. It's only players who fits or who doesn't fit a system or style of play.

He's 2 seasons in with no style of play while other managers have come to the league this season and implemented a style within a pre-season. His absolute blind loyalty to Antony who blatantly isn't good enough to play premier league football not even at a Burnley/Sheff level while he sits players who clearly have football i.q like Amad on the bench. Blind loyalty to rashford even though he's shown he isn't interested in playing for us anymore. The absolute ridiculous stuff that comes out of his mouth in press conferences literally minutes after we get out played by teams we should be battering even with our reserves. His substitutions rarely make any sense or have a positive impact on games showing he clearly has no game management. I could go on but I won't.

The main problem is sentimentalism for players like Rashford, Shaw, and Macquire. A lot of it is a shit attitude which was kinda cleared at first. These players and especially Rashford, when first came across this ruthless state of ten Hag, reacted to it. His ego did him good, he wanted to impress and he got his results. But that is the issue with Rashford and honestly with most players. It's not his fault he needs to get criticized and ridiculed before it hits him and he goes bonkers. But ita that within time if the culture is not upheld, which is conducted by the system, the shit attitude with sneak in and slowly stink the whole place out. Rashford got use to ten Hags dynamics, ten Hag got soft. Rashford took advantage of that and went on a mental holiday. That's why he comes out now and then to defend himself publicly. It's insecurity, about knowing the problem is you. And you think you should be protected for all that you have done for the club so then comes the entitlement. Which got fostered because we loved him. City loves their players too but can Foden afford to be like Rashford. Can Grealish? Can even de Bruyne or Halaand? And you tell me out the players I mentioned, who is even top 3 at the moment, and who deserves to be entitled. SAF wouldn't allow this, he would notice his love for Rashford is a weakness and stinks the place out. Ten Haag's mistake was actually not being as ruthless as he was last season. His blindsight was thinking, these players now get it. Even Bruno only started performing in the second half of the season. It's the culture, that needs to come from top to bottom, not middle to bottom or bottom to middle.
