Yes, the casual chat whilst driving around is a lovely format. The final seconds of the vid where Jack pins Rob to the seat with the burst of acceleration, and then the wicked grin on Jacks face, priceless!

Prices mentioned are wrong £40K - Rear-Wheel Drive, £50K - All-Wheel Drive + £60K for the Performance. For the indicator stalk/ drive selector stalks or lack thereof should I say, I've had my 2024 Model 3 for over a month, I got used to it within about a day of driving it. A lot of reviews seem to make a bigger deal out of it than I think is necessary. Just book a test drive before you order it if you're not sure.

It's not that one can't get USED to it, but rather it's a good step backwards in design. These capacitive haptic buttons jammed together on the same side on a moving wheel (and on the wrong side in AU), is not anywhere near as intuitive and correct as a stalk from an objective Human-Vehicle Interface design perspective. Saying you can get used to it is fine, but anyone saying it's a design improvement is perpetually high & dumb.

Lane changing is too complicated from my experience for ALL humans on the globe. Actually knowing when to indicate is science-fiction.

I don't understand what the big deal is about no stalks and changing drive direction on the screen. I had one over night and got used to it easily, no issues.

It's a bigger deal in Europe where roundabouts are a thing, it's hard to know where your finger should be to hit a button when a wheel is moving through your hands.

Incredible car! I have the LR refreshed Highland model 3. So comfortable and quiet inside. Build quality is superb. DONT worry about turn signals on steering it's so much faster than a stalk.

This was much better than a scripted show. They displayed their actual enthusiasm and enjoyment. Nothing forced, the feelings just flowed out naturally.

You adjust regen with your foot. If you release the speeder fast, you get full regen and if you release it slowly you get mild regen. It’s very precise and you don’t have to change focus from the road or let go of the steering wheel, so it’s much safer. Quite clever and by far a better solution than paddles behind the steering wheel and other nonsense solutions to mimic an old combustion super car.

I’ve recently started describing it to people as an inverse brake pedal. With the brake the more you push the harder it brakes. With regen the more you let off the harder it brakes

Regen options dissappeared a couple of years back (2021/2022 I believe?). If you have an older Model 3 you still have the low/high options though - it's purely newer cars made after a certain date can't change it from high anymore.

It kinda sucks that they did this aqtually. I guess Tesla thinks this gives you the best range so everyone should use this, but it feels like a downgrade to not have the option!

@@RogerGarner the problem I think, is that Tesla doesn’t blend in regen when using the brakepedals like most other EV’s so if you switch to coasting mode you don’t have any regen at all.

reviewers keep comparin this to ionic N while that one is 20.000 MORE, the price of this Tesla is actually it's biggest feature, just incredible value. i mean even the old model 3 P was as quick as a 911 GT3 RS or a Lamborghini Huracan 580, this one is even faster and can corner like insane, what a package!

@@DreDresChapters of course I'm well, and maybe you should check out how well a modified I5N did versus a modified Models S Plaid this pass week. The model s plaid lost full power after three minutes of the climb. You'll need some copium for that.

In the USA there are 12.5million trucks sold per year - almost all ICE vehicles. That is a massive market for the Cybertruck to take on and move people over to EV’s. They may not like it but it is a specific market for Tesla to take on. The cybertaxi is being launched on 8th August and that will be revolutionary- and also linked to the Model 2. It’s also worth noting that the Model 3 can be purchased new in the USA for $25k in certain states with subsidies.

FYI... All those put off the new M3 by its lack of stalks: Enhanced Auto (makers of the S3XY buttons) are developing stalks that can be retrofitted. I have the fully customisable S3XY Knob in my 2021 M3 and absolutely love it, thoroughly transforms the user experience, even includes advanced functions like "auto re-engage auto pilot" (when lane-changing) which normally requires purchasing EAP or FSD, and stuff like popping the frunk open if you hold drivers door handle for several seconds. Their buttons can be assigned as indicators too, and you can install them somewhere that is NOT spinning around! Do check them out!

You can use the touchscreen to change the level of regenerative braking: Touch Controls > Pedals & Steering > Regenerative Braking. Choose from two levels: Standard: Provides the maximum amount of regenerative braking

Love the driving chat - would love more. I would have loved to see Jack adjust the front/rear bias via track mode - Is it not yet implemented on the new performance? Robert, a carry over from a previous video of yours, what happens when you press the button on the turn signal stalk multiple times in your Model 3 LR? (why are you still adjusting wiper speed via the screen?)

I rented a Model 3 recently for a weekend trip. And I found the non conventional controls, hard to adapt to. And I can see why they aren’t popular to rent, it added stress to my trip. Driving dynamics were excellent, spaciousness, range, all good. But when you have to pull over to find the windshield wiper controls. You realize, in an attempt to be innovative Tesla has actually taken away are the simple controls that were already easily at our finger tips. And if you travel having standardized controls makes absolute sense. Because you can jump from car to car, and maybe only have the audio and navigation system to figure out. Simply put, “hey Tesla there’s a reason these controls are pretty much the same throughout the industry”.

I like the format of this video, but I wish you had turned on the "voice isolation" feature in your video editor to clean up the background noise in the audio. (That's what it is called in FCP and Davinci, Premiere doesn't have anything built-in, but you can always feed the audio through Adobe's Podcast AI tool, from what I've heard.)

Premiere does have it built-in, it's called Enhance Speech if you look in the Essential Sound panel 👍

Less regen is something I noticed on my LRM3 (highland) coming from a 2021 LRMY. I wish I should make it more aggressive, but don’t think it’s adjustable anymore.

Regenerative setting was removed as the updated EPA range testing requirements are that the car is tested with its any range reducing options turned on to the most aggressive setting and while regenerative braking is helpful in stop and go traffic it actually reduces highway range as it counteracts the forward momentum of the vehicle.

I’ve got a model 3 for 4 months now and I prefer the no indicator stark and only took 2 weeks to fully adapt to my car 16000 km 4 months later ❤my car

Indicator stalks work. I'm down for evolution and improvement, but buttons on the wheel aren't convincing me.

I liked the turn Knob on the top of the dashboard which operated the Trafficators, it worked fine for me!

Drive selection, indicators, wiper controls, ventilation etc are all fundamental controls that should excellent ergonomics and simple interfaces. We shouldn't be glossing over this stuff when a manufacturer gets it wrong!

Still to this day the best driving electric car is the BMW i3 S. Absolutely fantastic sharp steering, genuinely lightweight at 1200 kg, and a rear wheel drive rear mounted battery chassis that makes it feel almost 911 like in the way it is balanced.
I drove these NEW electric cars until they DIED!
