When I was a freshman in college, my roommate was Jamaican. I am white (from USA) and she and I were constantly asking each other about the differences in our cultures. We talked all the time about how we cared for our hair- washing, styling, dyeing, cutting etc. I loved having her for my roommate and I learned so much from her. Years later and we still stay in touch, but my hope is to visit her in her own country. Fingers crossed I will one day.

😂😂😂 she is using industrial shampoo and after shampoo why the fuck would you believe it’s an ancestral African method ?? BTW the hairstylist doesn’t even live in a village but in town. She is totally modern and occidentalised. If you want ancestral method tchek out the process women are using in Tchad, with very long, healthy and nourished hair thanks to chebs powder. African American are not connected to Africa. Only thing in common is melanin let’s be honest now. You should improved your American origins and « traditions » than feeling African and generates differences between « races » in your own country.

It is better to water the hair then comb. But, either way the results came out great. Everyone have their own unique way of doing hair. Combing dry is a bad idea in away because it would pull it out more then wetting if you really think about it? If wet? The hair have a better chance to smooth out correctly without pulling the rest of the hair. But, like I said this was fun to watch. Everyone has their own opinions. Instead of being a certain way we need to improve and teach others more and more respectful way cuz nobody is always and the rights of everything but we all learn from each other we as black people need to do that instead of going against each other because that's what the world wants.

Nice head of beautiful, healthy hair! Honestly it didn't look like it needed wasing, but I suppose the water says otherwise. I see the process is just a labor intensive in the village, maybe slightly more so since you have to fetch the water.

I am 45+ years and have been taking care of my hair naturally from age 15 years. I was with warm water and unscented bar soap, then the final rinse I use cold/room temperature water, straighten it a little and finally plait it. My hair is 50cm long and full💃💃💃💃💃💃 Keep it up girl
