Is hating on nerds still a thing, or are the screen-writers just stuck in the 80s?

Let me guess: at first the popular girls were going to selfishly use the nerdy guy, but in the end one of them ends up falling in love with him for his personality. Am I close? You know, these stories always have this situation where the girl is "beautiful but shallow," and the guy who wants her is "ugly but has a good heart." But he still falls for the girl even though she has an ugly personality/is ugly on the inside, just because of her looks. Isn't that kind of a double standard in the first place? Shouldn't the "ugly but good-hearted" guy ideally stop wanting the "beautiful but ugly inside" girl, and start looking at other "ugly but good-hearted" girls? Or is it only "deep and meaningful" when the girl is beautiful on the outside? Why should the "beautiful but ugly inside" girl look at the "ugly but good-hearted" guy instead of a "handsome but ugly inside" guy, if no one ever looks at girls who aren't beautiful on the outside anyway?

So, I'm guessing Nickelodeon is trying to grow up with their audience. Not a bad idea. Wasn't a bad movie, but coulda been better. The side stories and characters were alot more interesting, than the female lead. Everytime the older sister was on it got kinda boring. I wanted to follow Fuzz and Spidey a Lil bit more. They shoulda had more screen time.
