In this video I am showing fun toe dexterity exercises for better balance.
Do you spend much time on barefoot?
As you may know, I grew up in Japan and have practiced martial arts. From my cultural backgrounds and martial arts experience, I've spent quite a bit of time on barefoot and I still do even to this date.
While this is rather natural for kids, not so much for adults especially in North America and Europe where adults wear shoes most of the time.
I found that loss of use of feet and toes and loss of direct contact with the ground really impact the rest of the body as our nervous system relies on the information from feet to adjust how we balance our body and we we move.
In this video I am teaching 2 fun toe dexterity/coordination exercises. By awakening your toes and feet, you can really improve your balance and quality of walking. Please do these exercises on one foot first and feel a difference between 2 feet.

what are you interested in improving with exercises for calves, thighs, feet? I always think functions for exercise, so it will help me if you can give me specific functions you want to improve.

My dad could ”play the piano" with his toes. 😂 Not really but he could move the digits individually

I did this and feltt very. Good, but, now my calf feels stiff or crampy.. Sorry it was squatting,hard balancing do, for me. . Any suggestions,Taro?for calf's.

Were you squatting while doing these? you can sit in a chair and do these too, that might be easier than sitting on the floor. If your calf felt cramping up, then you were probably working too hard. I would use a different object to pick that is easier.
