Super Besse used to have 2 extremely rare 1960's Poma chairlifts. The second one, Falaise, was slaughtered in 2015, and sadly the first one has just followed this year. It's lowest pylons and almost certainly it's bottom station have literally just been cut down this July. If only ski lifts were built in more places than just mountain regions, I think people would understand that the old lifts are more important and interesting than the modern ones are. But because they have only been built in mountain regions, and more particularly in ski resorts, which are very expensive places, and also let's not forget that high-altitude mountain regions are not widespread globally, nowhere near enough people understand that the old lifts have an appeal to enthusiasts and must be preserved(and moved to different locations FOR enthusiasts when they are decomissioned or replaced), and those who do understand have done nothing about it because corporate businessmen and governmental authorities are power-hungry tyrants who want nothing more than never-ending profit generation. And they have too much power honestly, and they over-complicate everything just to make sure that things are done their way, and their way only. That's what's sadly happened with the ski lifts, and now nearly all rare ski lifts are gone. Because of corporate and governmental greed, and because of the shitty centralized living systems we've all been forced to live by at schools. Politics aside, the Funitel de la Perdrix, IS ONE OF THE ONLY MODERN LIFTS WORTH THE ATTENTION OF ANYONE. Despite being a crappy Leitner-Poma system, Poma have managed to make it into a complete uniquity as this lift is literally the only one of it's exact mechanical configuration and design. The other funitel, Funitel du Grand Fond in Val Thorens, is all Poma because it was made in 2001 before Poma stopped making their own detachable machinery in 2005. The Funitel du Grand Fond is a Poma Phoenix(otherwise called Satellit) system, which was made from 2000 to 2006. One of the last Poma Phoenixes is in Villard-De-Lans where the first Poma Omega T(1996 - 2000) was built. In Super-Besse was also the VERY LAST remaining Weber gondola lift. Weber were a very small French manufacturer established in the early 1960's and they mostly produced fixed-grip chairlifts and around 10 detachable ski lifts(9 gondolas, 1 chairlift) and one Gruppenumlaufbahn in La Bourboule. Weber used Muller grips for their lifts, although their actual lifts(stations, pylons, etc) were entirely of their own design. The penultimate Weber gondola lift in Puy St Vincent(Bergerie, 1975 - 2000) was the final opportunity for Super-Besse to acquire parts for the old Perdrix gondola lift, which they didn't take unfortunately. The final 8 years of the old Perdrix's existence got bad enough that even some of it's own cabins had to be sacrificed to maintain others. Parts were too rare, all they could do without re-manufacturing it's parts from scratch was to replace it. Thank goodness the replacement was a Poma Funitel. Funitels have been out of fashion since Doppelmayr built their last one in 2012, modern and valueless 8/10-MGD's have taken over everything and have destroyed more lifts than any other modern lift has ever done. It doesn't help either that Doppelmayr, Leitner and Poma lobbied governmental authorities into imposing new regulations which dictate that historic lifts are illegal to operate purely because their mechanical design is not standardized and modern, despite that the historic lifts never have any accidents caused by any parts of their mechanical design. These over-complicated regulations make it harder for ski resorts to run their lifts and puts extreme pressure on them to replace all of their historic lifts, just so the CUNT modern lift manufacturers, quite literally cunts they are too, can make more and more of their fucking goodness-for-saken money. Because that's all that big business ever has, ever does, and ever will fucking care about, not equality or doing the right thing. Only 2 Poma Funitels have ever been built, and that's all that there will ever be!

I totally agree with your comment. I was on site when they were starting the dismantling of the 2nd oldest lift in France ! i have photos. Fortunately, most valuable parts were sold to other resorts that still have old lifts. Unfortunately, the construction of the funitel was the death knell for this lift, as its use has fallen drastically or even ceased in recent years. But the good news is that videos of the lift are available, and the characteristic sound has its own dedicated video.
