I have to admit, he's one hell of a guy. I personally met him while on set of "Police Academy 3", as well as all the rest of the Academy cast. Had a lot of fun on that set. All the cast was delightful to speak to. Even got to play a cop in one of the scenes, as well as a guest in the resort robbery scene. I was lucky, and was shown in a few scenes in the final film. On one day of the filming, a helicopter used in the boat chase scenes can loose while sitting on lake Ontario, off shore of Toronto Island. I was one of the people that ran to get it stabilized, from hitting the dock and getting damaged, as the water was quite rough, and wavy that day. Luck the plane wasn't damaged in any way. You can see how rough the water was that day, in the boat chases, using the Jet-skis. One ski-jet hit the dock, when it came to shore. It was damaged slightly on it's nose, when it hit the dock too hard. No-one was hurt. Those now are days gone by now, but I still have a copy of the Police Academy 3 film as my own personal record of days gone by.

I grew up watching the Police Academy movies, still have them all on tape (well 1-6). Michael is probably the main reason I love them all. He actually did a comedy show in my town over a decade ago, walked right in front of me. He also did the voices of the Gremlins in that movie. Not sure of part 2 though. Missing is the part from Police Academy 3 when Mauser has those files and he's trying to talk to the Governor, he says: "Oh Governor, I speak for everyone when I say...." Then Jones goes RUH RUH RUH RUH RUH RUH RUH RUH. Classic.

Many years ago I wrote a TV commercial for Michael. I was able to spend some time with him in LA when we produced it and I loved every minute of it. He was a remarkable man and he shared stories of being mentored by Jonathan Winters (along with Robin Williams). Great memories.
