When I was training in R22s one of the common training routes had you transit military airspace and airfield. I was always amused by the controllers telling me to avoid the F16s in the pattern. I wanted to tell them I couldn't avoid anything this traffic wanted to do if I tried. I did get to cross midfield when a B52 was landing below me once. And got to see the USAF thunderbirds in the pattern below as I puttered by. One of my last flights at that field I was departing the mil airspace and an H60 pulled up alongside me and waved. I called the tower to ask if I was doing anything wrong he said "nope he just wanted to say hello." Was awesome.

I had a jet taking off behind me a while back. I was gonna warn them of my 172 wake turbulence but I figured in todays world someone would get offended. I didn’t want someone mad at my home based airport. Sad we have to worry bout that. So I’ll just keep is professional and boring.

all cessna 172 do 70 on final, 70 on final, 65 over the numbers going missed in a 150.. is part of the procedure.. but its funny to hear.. like how can you miss it.. you can land 5 times on that runway.. lol

ATC's voice sounds like she came from somewhere a bit south of Michigan. 🙂

She must be related to the ATC guy where I used to fly out of. He'd mess with low-time pilots when they landed long, saying "turn left at the end, if able."

There's the great one from SJC, where the controller tells a jet to "turn right at the end of the runway, if able, otherwise turn on 101 south and take 87 to return to the airport." (Highway 101 goes crosswise just past the end of the runway, and "use 87 to return to the airport" is not only the correct direction but also rather familar phrasing from the signs on a lot of the odd road loops around the terminal.)

@@BrooksMoses If I was that jet pilot I'd say "nope, I'll take the 101 over to 880 south and turn off at the little mountain road going to the SDSF mountainbike trails near Santa Cruz." lol

C172 70knots on final is totally normal, any faster and you're going to float or balloon. 90 on ILS, but could fly slower.

yeah, that was odd. But perhaps they came from another airfield to practice ILS approaches and missed approach procedures here.

I’m no expert but couldn’t the FedEX 767 have extended their downwind a few miles to give the Cessna some time to vacate the runway?

She seems to have promoted that C-150 to a C-172, as she called it a Skyhawk. Wishful thinking for the pilot.
