Danes are a VERY patient breed; great around babies, toddlers and young and old alike. Their timid nature makes them the perfect companion for new families. They can be trusted. I miss my Sophie girl who was 10 years old this year.

I have had a big Great Dane bull mastiff mix for a year now. We just got bunnies and she is so gentle and patient with them! It was so surprising to see because I hadn’t trained her with small animals yet but she’s taken to them so naturally.

Amazing how the majority of the Giant dog breeds are so gentle with children. Great Dane, Bernese Mountain dog etc. they just love kids and they know they’re much more delicate than the adults.

At first i thought this was adorable. That feeling quickly turned to unease as I watched a parent not only let their kid pull on the poor dogs ears but actually ENCOURAGE it! When that dogs patience runs out and he corrects the kid like he would correct a disrespectful puppy im sure they will blame the dog. TEACH YOUR KIDS TO RESPECT ANIMALS RIGHT AWAY AND AVOID THE DANGER DOWN THE ROAD!

Danes really are the sweetest and most tolerant breed. I cringed every time those baby hit those poor dogs.

I hate the one where the kid is messing with the mouth. The great dane wasn't being aggressive but he was kind of putting the babies hands between his teeth. The baby obviously wasn't hurt but that seems like a needless sticky situation...either the dog could accidentally bit/nip/or cut the babies hand...or maybe even actually bite(it seemed like a sweet pup but you never ever truly know what a dog will do).

If you've ever had a Great Dane you would know that they love attention of almost any kind. If it's something they don't like, they go away. Danes play pretty rough with each other.

I really dont think that people realise that what these babies are doing to the dogs is ten times softer than when an adult pats, scratches or plays with these dogs. That dane on the back veranda with the baby crawling, when the child gets to its back, you can see the dogs head go up to stretch out, it is thinking, pat harder, scratch me there, oh the bliss! Yes people need to teach their kids to respect animals, but you can only do that by letting them interact. If you are going to be judgemental dont watch.

Poor Gentle Giants being terrorized by miniature bullies. The baby in the tube was REALLY having fun playing Hide and seek, but the Dane always knew where the baby was. Great protection when babies get older.

M. Josephine Fonzo I don't think their bullies at the infant age. I think their just stimulated by the animated object ( the dog ) they see. It just exploratory play. Now if when their 3 and still doing this then it s very inappropriate and the parents would be guilty of nurturing bullying like behavior. But not infants.

And cue all the f***ing trolls who obviously have no idea about dog behavior or small children. Dogs are pack/social animals. The human family is their pack. They view the baby as a puppy. Do you you know what puppies do? They f***ing climb all over and chew on the older dogs of their pack. A 1 year old child has no concept of causing pain. Yes, you start teaching them from the beginning how to pet nicely, but they are not gonna learn right away. The f***cking dogs understand this! When they are tired of being prodded, they get up and walk away. Nobody in my (fairly large) family has EVER had to put down a dog for attacking a child. They grow old, they get sick, and you have to let them go. That's how it works.

According to safetyarounddogs.org there are 15-20 dog bite fatalities per year in the US. Out of 65 million dogs we keep as pets. That's adults included.

I swear if I ever have a baby and a dog at at the same time im watching them like a hawk and teaching the baby not to hit it. How are you gonna say you love dogs or cats and then let your baby who doesn't know any better hit or poke it. And then they cry about when eventually the animals patience runs out and they get put to sleep. Just because of the parents idiocy.

Sarah Burke that is a rubbish assessment of this video. Neither the babies nor the dogs are in any way uncomfortable here. Dogs love tactile behaviour, it's bonding for them. If you had a dog or baby you'd probably keep them separate which would be a far more dangerous situation. Both the babies and dogs here know better than you do, how does that make you feel? More like your own "idiocy", you clearly don't understand dogs and have contempt for them.

👀 Damn. All the hate and criticism about the babies hitting and poking. I'd understand if it was full force knock out. But you forget a babies hit is light and fragile. Not only that but dogs do know when they are messing with infants. If it was so bad i doubt dogs would have many puppies of there own cause they'd kill them for an aggressive bite. But what do i know. Im just a dog owner that plays with pup like normal fun loving pet owners.

well, you can leave the baby hit the dog... but it is still an animal, so do not get surprised when dog retaliates ... i have seen too many videos of nervous dog who was under pressure because he was told to "stay" and kid was "playing with him" loosing his temper. .. only to get away.... (and it was the kid who got hurt)

Yeah but what happens when the dog determines that he's had enough? Most likely the dog will be put down for defending itself. And you'll be on social media virtue signaling and crying crocodile tears for something that was avoidable. Non sono animali selvatici, sono domestici. E poi gli alani come razza in generale sono tranquillissimi e molto pazienti, soprattutto con i bambini. Io ho un alano Arlecchino di 2 anni, e un nipotino di quasi 4. Crescendo insieme si sono abituati entrambi a giocare, e il mio cane non ha mai neanche lontanamente fatto male al bambino. Addirittura mio nipote gli infila le mani in bocca e gli corre dietro attaccandosi alla coda (non fa male al cane), non c’è pericolo che lo morda 👍

None of the dogs here are being treated badly, dogs brush up and push each other all the time. They love that tactile feeling. Save your outrage for dogs actually being hurt which there is plenty of. "dragging a dog to a retail establishment"? What are you talking about? Lots of dogs love being brought to retail establishments dummy.
