It was Augustus who feigned giving up power and played the savior of Rome to assume control... I think Sage is going to try and pull a Brutus on Homelander

I think its really important to remember that Ryan is a kid who has very clearly devoulped empathy, and thats not something that can easily be erased by being around a bad influence like homelander. Homelanders God complex isnt a set of ideals that can easily be imposed on Ryan, its a sociopathy caused by his upbringing. Since Ryan is shown to be capible of Compassion, its going to be much harder for him to buy into homelanders beleifs.

I think that Hughie is shouldering too much guilt, but he is also not completely free of it. There are warning signs of strokes, and perhaps if he had taken his father‘s phone call he would have seen some of the signs develop and been able to get his father help faster.

I have watched a lot of reactions to this episode. You are the only one I've seen that remembered Marie took the blast from Homelander, and figured out that it was because they have the same powers!

I've only seen _GoT_ once, but I've seen so many reactions to it that I never forgot what happened. On the flip side, I completely forgot what happened in the first 2 seasons of _Succession,_ and because none of my favorite reactions reacted to it until now (Normies), I feel compelled to rewatch the show before I start S3, and S4. Same goes for _Barry._ I only feel comfortable doing that for a really great show, though. For average shows like _The Witcher,_ I'm not even going to bother. If I don't remember, fuck it.

So, the TLDR on Ceasar (in the context of what Sage is talking about, she more likely means Augustus than Julius) is that he rose to power after a few decades of riots and civil wars. Julius Ceasar was particularly talented at using public popularity and military power to enact his (mostly) progressive policies, but it also required/enabled him to assume increasing amounts of autocratic power. Conversely, Octavian/Augustus refused the title of dictator, but is still the first "Emperor of Rome" because after all of the chaos, the senate and people were willing to invest him with multiple positions and titles in order to keep things peaceful and prosperous.

I'm not entirely convinced that Sage is as super-smart as she's propped up as being -- I suspect she's rigging the system for her own advantage. Or for someone else's...Could Butcher have somehow planted Sage on the Seven's radar so that she can manipulate them from within? Again, just conjecture, but he's awful sneaky, that Butcher. I don't think it takes a Reed Richards or Tony Stark level intellect to be able to manipulate the man-babies of the Seven. While Homelander is pretty devious and seems to be able to think on his feet (at least prior to recently, he now seems to get lost in his own head), he seems pretty easy to manipulate. I reckon anyone paying attention would be able to figure out how to do so. The Deep and A-Train are so specifically motivated that I reckon my five-year old cousin could convince them to do what she wanted. Same can more or less be said for The Boys -- there's been growth, sure, but they're fairly predictable. I wonder to what degree Sage is a meta-commentary on that versus how her intelligence will play into the plot, versus a little from column A, a little from column B. But it seems like having powers basically just grants +15 to all stats. Is there some in-show explanation for this?
