This video was purely created as an excuse to play with the real Sherman from the film Fury. I make no attempt to hide this. Still, we hope you all enjoy this silly video, and thanks go out to this video's sponsor: GOAT GUNS. Fancy a high qaulity cast-miniature gun? Well find them here: goatguns.com
We'd also like to thank all our friends at the Tank Museum at Bovington, and at Armourgeddon for helping us out with this video. Check them out here:

Yeah, once the tank breaks down in the middle of the road, the movie just becomes fantasy. As soon as they found out the tank was manned and just mobility killed, the germans could have used so many routes to just flank the thing and kill it with no or very low casualties, instead they decide to stand in the open and just get shot. It broke immersion for me.
@arvideriksson

To be honest it’s when the film has its first major action sequence that I lost interest and realised just how foolish it was. That Pak40 would have destroyed all those Shermans, as would the tiger that they magically surrounded and bounced rounds from (whichever came first). It was just a bad film from beginning to end, inglorious bastards was more realistic than Fury.
@clothar23
@clothar23 Жыл бұрын
@@joebloggs7514 To be at least a tiny bit fair ( only a tiny bit mind you ) The first bounce was off a Jumbo. A Sherman field modded to be more resistant to incoming fire. And Fury itself was an Easy 8...A Sherman purpose built to kill Tigers. And the bounces were at point blank range on the rounded armour of the turrets. Which contrary to popular opinion decreases the damage a shell would do. Especially from something as big as an 88mm. It's still a little too much but honestly it wasn't the worse offender by far.

Yeah, the reality (yes it's based on a supposedly real event. The book it's known from had many inaccuracies, so... yeah.) was FAR fewer casualties, and didn't have them walking into the tank in broad daylight (it was night, so they didn't see it), retreating and attacking several times. There was a real story which is maybe familiar to author of the book. Only it was a soviet tank on the crossing. KV-2. It destroyed 12 supply trucks which were then followed by two 50mm anti-tank guns. An 88mm gun was knocked out at a range of over 900 meters. The germans then mounted a night raid in which two satchel charges were attached to the Russian tank. They were blown but the tank continued to fire. The next morning a feint attack was made by light panzers while another 88mm gun was brought up to finish the tank off. The tank was finally silenced when two assault engineers pushed stick grenades through a hole at the base of the turret.

Ironically, Audie Murphy did actually score a kill ratio of like 250 men (and some tanks) on his own. ...No one would ever have believed it if there weren't hundreds of witnesses on both sides.

Maybe, but I don't know why you would use them in that particular scenario with a fuse that long.
@weldonwin
@weldonwin Жыл бұрын
They were intended as offensive grenades for use in trench fighting, I believe so they had the longer fuse and of course the long handle in order to throw them further to get them into an enemy trench or foxhole before an assault
@francisdec1615
@francisdec1615 Жыл бұрын
Sweden had similar grenades, although we didn't take part in the war. There was also an extension that could be screwed on the top, so that it became a pretty powerful bomb with 1 or 1.5 kilos of TNT (the grenade itself "only" contains a couple of hundred grams),
