Shia: Are you a praying man? Pena: I hate you

Shia nailed this role. He gets the somewhat aggressive, but very serious tone of an all-in, small town southern baptist. He gives the vibe that he cares deeply for this young man he just met, but also that he's given this talk dozens, if not hundreds, of times before. It's not annoying because it's so clear he means it. He likes his comrades, but is detached in a way. They are the wicked, in the end. He knows they're lost and wants the young man to see the pathway of Righteousness. He can see a mainline denomination, nominal Christian a mile away, and he demands to know if he's truly, spiritually, prepared for what he'll see. Good writing there.

1:53 Like in here, it's great how later in the final cut we get to see Bible and Gordo enjoying Grady's bullying towards Norman and even play along at the beginning, but then the joy starts fading away and they begin to worry about the new guy, so they end up having to pacify Grady cause he doesn't know limits. It's a pattern throughout the film, they should have kept this brilliant bit.
