I've seen the tapestry style pieces many times and always wanted to make one! Here's a peek at how it's done. I learned a lot just from this one creation to make it better for next time. Kiln schedules and detailed help available on our Patreon page.
Thanks for watching! Be sure to subscribe to catch the latest and let us know what other experiments you would like to see.

If you flip every other other strip with the stringers down you get a 3D effect that makes the "tapestry" really pop out.

Putting the stringer part sheet strips as the bottom layer and capping with clear full sheet will reduce the spread of the stringer pattern. So build 1st layer on kiln shelf and cap. Perhaps add a bubble squeeze to the firing. Or glue down really well the way you did and flip over on shelf and fire. , etc. The version you did looks nice too.

Interesting approach. Thanks for sharing. I have another one coming that I used 2mm thin glass. I'm hoping that will clear the gap. I'm definitely curious about minimizing the bubbles since the sheet is on top. I'll definitely give it a try!

I love your video and will make one soon!. Just one question: Will it be ok to fused the stringers on a 2mm glass instead?. Will the schedule be the same?. Thanks!

Great you just gave him the credit in your comment. I have never heard of him and he’s not the reason I posted, nor have I taken his class. I saw another artist making these and decided to figure it out

Yes, Richard should be credited with teaching many people how to make this and for being the guy that came up with the term Tapestry. Bullseye offers a Richard Class that is worth it.

If you have been fusing awhile you naturally figure some things out on your own, and the understanding becomes your own. I'm curious and experimental myself, but I'm also learning. Thanks for sharing this! @@MoltenWorksglass

Of course. This is a pretty basic full fuse schedule. I recommend you use what works for your kiln, as they are all slightly different. 300-1000-0 9999-1450-8 9999-950-60 200-800-0 300-100-0 I used this for both firings, though your top temperature may vary by 10 degrees.

I love watching your videos. I was wondering if you had any suggestions on what my 1st glass fusing project should be in my new glass Kiln. I have experience with microwave kilns and pottery kilns but I am anxious to start glass in a glass kiln. What was your 1st project?

Oh man so hard to remember what my first project was. Probably a square of clear with mosaic pieces clipped on top and fused, then shaped into a bowl.

Great video, but a couple of questions. Are you using 2mm or 3mm clear? Also, when you cut the 1/2 strips were you cutting with the stringer side up?
@moltenworksglassstudio8810
@moltenworksglassstudio8810 3 жыл бұрын
For this one 3mm glass. And I did cut on the stringer side, basically pick whichever side is smoother to cut on so you get good scores.

@moltenworksglassstudio8810
@moltenworksglassstudio8810 3 жыл бұрын
Stringers are all the same, like angel hair pasta. Ends up being just over 4mm thick. 1 layer of clear with stringer on top, cut it up, then add it on top of another sheet of clear. Thanks for watching!

How are you breaking your glass sheet after you score it. It seems to just magically break on it’s own. What am I missing?
@moltenworksglassstudio8810
@moltenworksglassstudio8810 8 ай бұрын
Haha it’s magic! Just kidding, I’m using a runner tool to break it once I score. It helps I’ve been cutting glass for a long time too.

There are a few brands. My favorite is Skutt Kilns, but I also just purchased one from Olympic Kilns that I'm pretty happy with. I stay away from Jen-ken brand kilns as they may be cheaper, but you pay for it with breakdowns.
