Lars, you're the man. Using project to hit curves is one of those things you need to know but don't know how to put into words on google. I have been having a issue with one of more complex projects. The grid is not aligning to some of the faces. Its skewed, even though the face is a rectangle. Not sure how to reset the grid to align. Because its part of an assembly, I can not just rotate the face. Would appreciate the help from you or any of the other more informed users. Thanks.

My sketch is for revolving around the tip is automatically getting cut off at the edge of the hex section. I have to manually delete the line it's automatically adding. Is that a setting I need to change? Also, how do you select the axis through the body? I can't seem to do it. I have to select it from the origin dropdown.

I just can't get my sketch on the tip to work like this. I do exactly what you're doing when sketching but a line keeps automatically being placed that runs along the preexisting hex extrusion. When I delete this line, I'm then unable to lock down the point at the end of the 15 degree angle where it should line up with the hex extrusion. I have to manually adjust where that point is when I change the tip thickness from 2.5 to 3. When you change it, that point remains locked to the correct position, but when I change it, the point goes off into space.

Hey Lars. Missed the live stream - again. :-( At 52:01, when answering the knurling question, you skipped over the "Aluminum - Knurled" selection. I was wondering if there was a reason. That selection would still have been just a visual representation, right? Or would that option also have taken up to many resources? Thanks again for the videos. I'm learning, slowly - VERY slowly. ;-)

It depends on what you are looking to do. If you start modeling a skyscraper you might see performance issues, but if you are looking to model your shed, you should be fine

Just a simple project. Converting a friend's open stall into a workshop. Using it for the design and BOM, to estimate the costs. F360 should work fine then. Thanks!

Is it possible to use a model 3D as a canvas? For example - 3D model of a human body, or its parts? Is it possible to do design clothes on the body model and make a patterns? Can I use fusion 360 for fashion design? Чи можливо використовувати у якості полотна 3Д модель чого-небуть? Наприклад - 3Д модель тіла людини, або його частин? Чи можливо намалювати одяг на моделі тіла й зробити викрійки?

Did you intentionally miss out the larger hexagon on the shaft, to make it the same as your driver? Also, is it possible to import a digital photo of a product and then copy it in the same manner as you did on this video?

Is there a way to scale an entire model? Or, alternatively, to scale a sketch, body, or component? Suppose that after you've designed that screwdriver you want to make it so that it's sized appropriately for a five-year old, so that it would fit his hand rather than that of an adult? Or maybe scale it way down to Barbie doll scale? Is there a way to do that, apply some scale factor to the whole thing, or even to just some portion of it as needed? As a test of my skills as I learn how to use Fusion 360 I'm creating a CAD model of the Falcon 9 Heavy rocket, using all the available dimensions of the real rocket. But eventually I want to use that CAD model to 3D print (or hand-build) an actual model, at a reasonable modelling scale. How could I scale the original CAD model (which has the real-size dimensions) down to, say, a three foot tall model?
@bougagaga71
@bougagaga71 6 жыл бұрын
you can go to modify then scale

Suppose that I make a body or a component and then make copies of it, either with a mirror operation or a pattern operation or just with a copy/paste, and then I make modifications to the original object, such as changing one or more of the sketches that define it or adding or deleting features of it. Do those changes to the original get reflected in the copies that I had made? If not, how can I accomplish that, having copies of an object somehow "linked" to the original so that changes in the original automatically get applied to the copies? One of the things I'm doing, in order to learn Fusion, is to try to design the Falcon 9 Heavy rocket (built by SpaceX). It uses a total 27 rocket engines. I want to do an initial (crude) design of one engine and copy it into all 27 locations in the rocket, and then when I later go back and refine the original engine have those refinements also show up in the other 26 engines.Is there a way to do that? Is there a video that explains that process?
@bougagaga71
@bougagaga71 6 жыл бұрын
why don't you finish the engine first and then copy it into all 27 locations ? and it's cool way to learn
@RogerGarrett
@RogerGarrett 6 жыл бұрын
Even if I were to try to do the complete engine before working on other parts, it's still always possible that I'll need to go back to make corrections. And, sure, I could then delete all the copies, make the corrections, and do the copy operation all over again, but it would be sure nice to have a way of having one master object that all other copies are somehow linked to. Suppose there was some object that had thousands of copies all over design. You sure wouldn't want to have to re-copy and re-position them if you determined that they needed a modification of some kind. I"m guessing that there's some way to "export" a given body or component and then "import" it into the project (or even other projects) and have that implicit link out to the exported object so that a change to the master one gets implicitly reflected in any projects that make use of it. I suspect that such a feature is likely to be critical to any project that has lots of people working on lots of different parts of the project.

Hi Lars, Thanks for responding. I just watched the video that you recommended and it does seem to address my question. Ironically, it was another fellow named Roger who had asked that question back then, but it sure felt like you were addressing me specifically. :) I'll have to give that copy/paste approach a try. It does seem that it keeps the multiple copies linked in the way I'd like them to. I'm just wondering if, when you actually want to make a change to the copied component (so that all others get the same changes), do you actually have to do those changes on the ORIGINAL, or does a change to any one of the copies also apply, via the links, to the others. I.e. how smart is Fusion in dealing with copy/paste linked objects? This would be of particular concern if I've made a whole slew of copies and wasn't sure, later on, which one was the original. Also, it wasn't clear to me how you saved that particular object, the steel square tubing, out to the library. In your example you only had that one component in the project. What if I had a dozen different components in a project but only wanted to save out one of them to that library folder? Can I save out just one component from within the current project?
