Thank you. It’s so great to see you back. I almost gave up trying to learn fusion 360. If I hadn’t stumbled on your channel I might have. I am paralyzed from the chest down and was able to set up a Tormach Cnc mill to suit my disability. I am finally making my first parts on my mill because of your awesome teaching. I am forever grateful. I love this hobby and it helps me fight off depression. Keep up the great work, you never know how it might affect someone. Cheers

You get an “oooohhhhh”. I didn’t know you could pick a tangent for a circle dimension. I’ve been creating tangent sketch lines like a noob all this time. I’ve tried the double click a closed loop segment and I wasn’t able to get it to select the entire loop. Still trying to debug that one. Great video! I always learn so much.

For the free/privat version: With the "edit in place" feature, would this still work with an archived part or would that particular part need to be manually reactivated first? This would do away with the advantage that you wouldn't need to search for the part. Would be nice if the part in question would automatically be "un-archived" as long there is at least one of the 10 active slots vacant. This way one would only need to archive any one of the unused active ones but not search for the part that wants to be edited.

Thank you for the great video. I especially like your pace. I have a question that you inadvertently demonstrated during this video. When you were making the slot in the plate for the seat screw hole, you made the center of the slot coincident with the existing hole. That was your design intent, and Fusion picked up on it. However, a couple of minute later when you were finished the slot feature, you demonstrated my big pet peeve, that this constraint was "lost". And you had to manually add it back. This happens to me every time I make a sketch. It is super frustrating, to have something "pretend" to be constrained, but then it tricks you. Is there something I'm (and you in this particular instance) did wrong to cause the constraint to "not stick"? Thank you for your time! Nick.
@cadcamstuff
@cadcamstuff 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Nick, Thank you for watching the video. Normally when you loose a constraint it's because you made a change, like you delete a line or a radius, and the constraint looses it's reference.
@Robinlarsson83
@Robinlarsson83 3 жыл бұрын
@@cadcamstuff but you didn't do that here, did you? It seemed like it lost the coincident when you changed the length of the slot, but I'm not sure? Could it be because it was a slot and not say a circle?

Really nice video and once again answers quite many things I've been trying to figure out. Also props for the ways to make assemblies. Been thinking about making own diy router/plasma cutter and I've been thinking about creating frame, but somewhere along the video I began to think that maybe I should actually make the tool end first and use that and desired workspace to create frame for the assembly. That way I might not hit those frame limiting factors that at least I'm prone to create during design. I mean it's quite easy to create frame that leads to tool head being disgustingly much offset from movement axis. This video was somewhat eye opening for us that who are stuck in certain habits unknowingly.

Hello Lars,i am using fusion 360 not so long yet,but i can manage a lot,i even designed my already build model fishing boat.all is going good,except the lofting for the skin of the hull. for the straight part i used a thin extended body with same size/dimensions as the ribs,i just extruded that as long as i needed,that did worked,but getting to the front section where the ribs are going to murge into the ships nose,the lofting between 2 ribs does not work??????each rib is a seperated body,aswel the midcenter axel ribe the keeps al the ribes in line

Do you go over the file limit for personal use or the whole folder called Guitar Stool that contains all the files counts as one? That would greatly limit the way you go about designing anything that has more than 8 or 9 parts. I see that somebody commented something similar already. Also there is not edit in place for the rest of us. 😒 Great tutorial by the way 😊

How do you use Fusion 360 to include a component that must be deformed to be assembled - such as a washer, o ring, etc? On a more complex note, how would one assemble the parts of a strain wave gear assembly? In this case, the flexible spline will need to be deformed to only engage the teeth of the circular spline at two points 180 degrees apart.
@cadcamstuff
@cadcamstuff 3 жыл бұрын
Hi David, You would not model a deformed o-ring unless you want to show it in compressed state in a 2D drawing.

Are you saying that SolidWorks can't do top-down design (it can)? At 30:47 you say you don't know of any other CAD software which can do edit in place in a bottom up assembly, but that's exactly how many other CAD packages work. This isn't the first video from a Fusion 360 presenter where I've seen this misinformation. Fusion 360 is a good program with some great features, but there's no need to say false things about other systems.

I’m with you all the way until you start using inches and then my brain seems to close some doors. It’s not just the confusion of inches but also why? Besides the fact that that’s how it’s always been done in some countries, what are the benefits over metric? Just seems to way over complicate things. Also, ‘Edit in place’ is only in the subscription version.
