You can reheat 95% of all leftovers perfectly by microwaving it for 1 minute and then air frying for 2 minutes. Crispy outside and heated the whole way through.

With reheating: Microwave for food that doesn't need crisp. For food that does need some crisp/non-sogginess (bringing it back to life), I mostly warm it up in the microwave to quickly get the heat all through it, and then finish it up quickly in the air fryer, because that is much quicker and you're less likely to burn the outside trying to get the inside hot, since it's already cooked (unless you use a lower temperature, but we ain't got all day).

An air frier is just a convection oven that bakes marketed under a different name. The frier part in the name implies something better than baking but you aren’t actually frying anything in an air frier.

Heat output and recovery of an air fryer based on size and heating element design is definitively different than just convection baking. And, in terms of user experience, cooking or reheating a serving of French fries is an air fryer task, not a convection oven thing.

@@Robocoloku boiling, poaching, braising, stewing, and pressure cooking are all heating up liquid that then heats up the food, but they're different cooking methods that get different results. Saying an air fryer is the same as a convection oven or a "tiny oven" is ignorant and wrong. If there isn't (or you haven't put) oil on the food you put into the air fryer to utilize it's key features, then the issue is with the user who is trying to use the appliance as an oven, not anything to do with the air fryer itself.

I think (not looking it up!) it's called an air fryer because it was largely seen as an alterative to frying things in an oily pan or deep frying things. So instead of oil-frying, it's AIR frying. Though, you can still use oil in an air fryer, at least now you can... which, just made me realise that air fryers used to pretty much all have a removable wire basket, where air could really circulate around the food, but now that isn't so much the case. So, maybe the air concept was more obvious in the past than it is now.

First got a ninja. Was amazing. Eventually got an Instant Vortex 9 quart versazone. It’s larger and has a more square shaped basket. Works better for us since we cook large amounts in it for the whole family. The Ninja couldn’t fit that much in it and we always had to do tons of cycles just to cook everything for one meal. But if cooking for just an individual or maybe 2, the Ninja is fantastic.
