I think "Future" is used like the word "Modern" with respect to architecture: Modern Architecture was a distinct architectural style that arose in the early 20th century, while Future House is a distinctly new house music style that arose in the 2010's. "Future" isn't meant to be a predictive term.

And how will we name the newer upcoming subgenres with increasingly futuristic sounds? Post Future House? And after that? Modern Post Future House? Post Modern Post Future House? Subsequent Post Modern Post Future House? 2nd Wave Subsequent Post Modern Post Future? Supra Chronological Transcendental Infinite Singularity House? Jokes aside, It makes more sense to name genres after their distinctive auditory characteristics.
