THe Lakers aren't starting this., Both Sacremento and Milwaukee used this concept on their new arenas that opened within the last 5 years.

The Kings also have an open structure like inside their arena. In fact I think they’re the ones who popularized the concept. It’s not always the Lakers

AEG, owners of the Kings. Own Crypto and are doing the renovation. The Lakers are tenants. They don't have say.
@lilshaq32 Жыл бұрын
Well. It's not the Lakers. It's the Los Angeles Kings doing this. They are owned by AEG that also owns the arena.

The lakers arent the first to do this. The barclays center literally has a massive opening in the entrance. You can literally see the court as you're walking into the arena

Lakers can’t afford to do much honestly, so really it’s the Kings making all the decisions in the arena.

The NBA never gave the Kings an ultimatum for a new arena or they were leaving. The Maloofs were trying to sell the team or move. Arco/Sleep Train Arena was a great arena for the cost when they started building in 1986. Arco is still the loudest NBA arena according to the Guiness World Record. Once the Kings were bought and they kept the Kings in Sac, they knew they needed to build a new arena.

As a South Florida Native the American Airlines Arena/ Kesaya Center definitely could use a renovation by fixing the lower bowl for Ice Hockey so the Florida Panthers can move back to downtown Miami and also replace the Red and Orange Seats with Black and Gray ones with a little bit of red.

I think one thing you are missing is the class of people that own pro teams and don't spend their own money when they can get someone else to foot the bill. Yes, they are rich but the reason pro teams get into protracted battles with cities is that they do not want to foot the bill when they know they can get someone else to do it. For example, if the A's can get the funding to get a stadium built in Vegas it will not be that the owner paid for it himself, It would be debt on the books on the team and whatever public money they can arrange.

It's probably going to get one, given the building it's attached to (2 Penn Plaza) just got totally renovated to look way less 1960s and more 2020s, as well as Penn Station under the arena for the most part. Some metal cladding on the exterior replacing the brown concrete would go a long way to making MSG look state of the art. It already looks great at night with its lighting package, just needs to look better during the day.

6:25 I have to correct you ginger, Memphis Tigers Basketball(Coached by Penny Hardeway) have sold out the majority of their home games dating back to the John Calipari era. It’s an awesome College Basketball environment. (Look up #1 Memphis vs #2 Tennessee during Derrick Rose freshman year 😳)

When it aint broken, don't fix it. Opening up for natural light seems nice from a moral perspective, but it's sort of destroying part of the intimate atmosphere in my opinion. Sometimes those seats removals don't make sense to me. That being said, that Intuite dome looks really cool!

Pelicans announced they will be exercising their lease extension for 5 years and will start a study to remodel or build a new stadium. Gayle Benson has stated many times, she will focus on the arena after renovations of the Superdome are completed which is supposed to be next year.

Pelicans should just relocate to Canada’s french border city Montréal, Québéc and play their 82 NBA home games at the Max Bell Centre where they would share the arena with Montréal Canadianes who are a professional hockey team in the National Hockey League

Timberwolves likely will build a new arena. The new ownership group is going to push for it and local politicians acknowledge that it probably is needed. 2030 timeframe is probably correct. Wouldn't surprise me if they just do a tear down and rebuild of Target Center and just play some games in St Paul Xcel Energy as a stop gap.
