THIS IS VIDEO WALKAROUND AND GAMEPLAY OF MY 1979 BALLY FUTURE SPA PINBALL MACHINE BY BALLY. THIS IS THE FIRST BALLY GAME WITH BACKGROUNDS AND WAS THEIR SECOND WIDEBODY. BACK IN 1980 I SAW A FUTRE SPA AT THE FAMILY FUN CENTER NEAR MY HOME. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I HAD BEEN IN THIS ARCADE AND THIS WAS THE FIRST PINBALL MACHINE I PLAYED THERE. IT WOULD BE ANOTHER YEAR LATER WHEN I WAS ABLE TO RIDE MY BIKE TO THAT FAMILY FUN CENTER WHICH I THEN SPENT THE NEXT TWO DECADES OF MY LIFE PLAYING THERE. WHAT ATTRACTED ME TO PLAY FUTURE SPA WAS THE ARTWORK AND PLAYFIELD LAYOUT. IN 2017 I WAS ABLE TO PURCHASE A FUTURE SPA THAT WAS SITTING IN STORAGE SINCE 1984. IT'S NOT IN PERFECT CONDITION BUT IT STILL LOOKS GOOD AND PLAYS GREAT. WHEN I FINALLY SET UP THIS GAME IN 2021 I WAS HOOKED. PLAYING THIS GAME JUST TAKES ME BACK TO 1980. I WAS NOT SURE IF I WAS GOING TO STILL LIKE THIS GAME AND IF IT WAS GOING TO STAY IN MY COLLECTION, BUT IT DID NOT TAKE LONG TO MAKE THE DECISION TO ADD THIS TO MY PERMINATE COLLECTION.

My Dad bought one new in 1979. Became very good at it after playing it often. I miss this machine so much!

I first played this game September of 1982 at a bar (was 9-10 years old) and was a fun game.

Wow, those where the days: sitting in school and waiting for the school to finish. Anxious to get to the small local arcade that had that one big pinball machine with this magnificent backplate: future spa. Remember standing it beside "Nitro Ground Shaker" on the one side and "Phoenix" video game on the other side. Even after 40 years I remember every sound of it. The sequence when counting the bonus after you've lost the ball gives me goosebumps. Strange how memory works, as I can’t remember what I had for dinner the day before yesterday. Thank you for uploading this video!

That’s a really neat game. I’ve never played a Bally wide body. I like the bumpers down in front. Neat feature.

Oh how "attractive" the design of that back glass is, as my adolescent self remembers when seeing it for the first time.

That's how I feel as well and that's why I un-expectedly decided to add this game to my permeant collection. The artwork on that Back Glass just pulled me in to play this game for the first time when I was only Ten years old. After 41 years later this Back Glass grabbed me again. In 2021 when I got this dead game working from the grave and I saw that Future Spa logo light up on the Back Glass, it just took me back to that same moment when I first saw this machine in 1980. This machine just captures the spirit of that late 70's early 80's Futuristic look that I love so much. It's amazing how today this game just puts me right back at an era that I would rather be at today every time I turn this machine on.

The artist in the 70s and 80s is the real star of these games. The artwork on these games are beautiful and very thought out. They did an excellent job to capture your imagination and get you hooked on the game. This was also the case for the Atari 2600. I just loved the artwork on the game box or in the game catalog. The artwork would get me hooked and excited to buy the game even though the game itself was a disappointment. Today this is a lost art. They rely more on a license theme to sell games with cheap artwork.
