ULTIMATE Engineering, How China build a train station in 9 hours, China Incredible High Speed Rail
While some of us were probably sitting at our desks yawning into a coffee and blinking at our emails, over in China a huge group of workers were busy creating the railway for a new train station - being so efficient at their job that it only took them 9 hours. Even Elon Musk tweets and praised the high efficiency of the railway project.
China has the largest and most extensively used of high-speed railway network in the world. Lines cross the nation in excess of 40,000 km by the end of 2021, accounts for two-thirds of the world's total high-speed railway networks. Half of that amount has been built in the previous 7 years. By 2035, the network is planned to boom and set to reach 70,000 km.

I am not surprised on the speed and efficiency of their workers. 2000 years ago, Chinese people had demonstrated their ability to organize and work together to build the Great Wall that scratched over 21,000 km using primitive tools. To prevent wars.

By next morning, it was all smooth brand new asphalt.... I was like was I tripping?

Stuff in china is breaking apart even few years or one decade after its build they just tear it down and build again. ITs increadibly wastefull and non economic but if you print your own money who care socialist utopia untill dept catch up and everything fails.

Look at the conditions where USA Citizens live under like the Streets of Kensington Philadelphia, Tents in Venice Beach California, Caravans in Kentucky, or Cars in Miami. 35 Million USA Citizens live in 3rd World conditions and all you're worried about is a few leaks in a 1000 Bed Futuristic Hospital that China built in 10 days for their Covid-19 patients. And what's with your BS word "concentration camps"? You are one mean person. China is putting their Covid=19 Citizens in comfortable beds with Entertainment and Airconditioned access ... not in streets, not in caravans, not in tents, not in car ... stop being a Wanker all your life. China takes Covid-19 seriously and LISTEN to their National Medical experts, unlike USA where they want to hang their Medical Expert because he told them that Covid-19 is bad. The RESULTS prove who is right. USA have OVER 1 MILLION Citizens dead from Covid-19 ... and climbing. China, with 5 times the population of USA has 35 Thousand Citizens dead from Covid-19. Corporate USA could not give a damn about their Citizens ... they want them all out there to Work for them so they can keep making profits. That same hospital built in 5 years is built with materials meant to last decades. You ever heard of Todu Dreg projects in China? Literally streets and buildings filled with rocks and glass bottles among other things instead of cement. There’s nothing remarkable about a major piece of infrastructure being built in 9 hours, 10 days or what’re extremely short amount of time we want to throw out there. What’s impressive are the high quality major infrastructure projects they’ve built over the last few years. Impressive is the high speed rail network they’ve amassed in the amount of time they have done so.

Yes ... lets wait 5 years (and still not done in most cases). Let tens of thousands of USA Citizens die. It’s a great project, it’s going to be all high speed rail except for Gilroy to San Francisco. The reason it keeps costing more is due to high speed rail authority bitting off more they can chew/ incompetence in the early days/ how much of a bureaucratic mess it is for the authority to give contracts/anything lol. The reason it keeps taking longer is due to the state assembly members who keep cutting funding whenever they feel like it. It’s sad to see what could be a great piece of infrastructure constantly sabotaged so opportunist politicians can take the money and spend it else where. Most of them just want to widen freeways which doesn’t solve the traffic problem at all.

I wouldn't say that other countries don't have good management, it's more where the motivation for the workers come from. in china where population is more dense, competition is high. if someone is clearly not doing their job, there are always replacements. in America, there's a whole slew of job security that "protects" the employee. This in turn gives employees a lot of wiggle room to not work at their best and more often than not, breeds slackers. Now slacking and breaks occasionally is nothing new and required but when you take a whole week to do an hour's worth of work?

Even it would have got built, it would have taken 10 years to build. In my local town, they are only building a footbridge over the railway line which started 2 years ago and well it is still not finished. the new HS2 designed to go all the way to Manchester from London, most in tunnels, oh it is billions over budget and now only goes to Birmingham. 2 miles of motorway re-surfacing which takes over a year. re-design 2 mile motorway to make it even more dangerous, yeh that took 2 years. They have one on a research test track that can hit 400mph or 640km/h. You can see that pretty much makes the plane redundant if you think the speed of sound is 770mph, then planes will want to run slower than that and so your advantage is much reduced. Besides hopping on a train is faster than your 2hr wait at airports.

I think that's because the Chinese are ultra result-oriented. (No offence, I'm Chinese too.) Just pointing out the fact that we tend to be extremely practical-minded. Human rights, freedom and democracy - yes yes those are great of course, BUT first and foremost we like new roads and new bridges and new trains and new hospitals and new apartment blocks and new payment systems and new gadgets and toys.

Theses projects never truly happen in such a short time. There is a lot of work that gets done hand to plan everything right down to the second. Both material and equipment are staged nearby in order to ensure that the project goes smoothly. Portions of the project which do not require line closure are done ahead of time.

It will take NYC gov't 2 years to just dig the ground. The task shown on this video may take more than 4 years to complete in the US for workers most likely will work 8 hours a day only, and there will be only 10 workers with one machine on the job at a time.

I live in Canada. To fix a stretch of less than 2km road plus one traffic light, it took over a couple of years for the decision to be made, over a year to announce and wait for the work to begin, about 9 month for the work to be completed. The downfall of the western is not for no reason. Western society are awarding laziness right from their elementary education. In public schools, there is almost no test, no homework, no competitions. Teachers do not fail students, and students are not awarded for more work done or better grades. The kids focus in sports only, which yields them absolutely nothing in the future except a selected few. Academia is rarely awarded nor promoted compare to sports. Schools are removing traditional value like mother's day and father's day. I can not wait to see what type of next generation this type of system can breed...
