Funny. A falling plane will not grab your parachute but if a tree branch just barely touches your parachute upon touchdown, you are dead.

Overall I think the bail-out animation is very good. The physics of interacting with the plane could get quite complex, so I suspect the devs decided to not make it too complex.

Looked like you stuck the landing until she started flipping. Nice flying with no rudder.

Thanks. I tried to be gentle and steady… but I needed to turn to get to the closest base. Too sharp and it got out from under me….

This collectors plane serves no purpose. It was a high-altitude fighter designed to counter American daylight bombing raids, and didn't really achieve that below 22K feet. Considering that IL-2 doesn't have heavy bombers let alone the existing high altitude airframes to necessitate it, the addon is entirely moot. It's likely they chose the Ta 152 as a Collectors bird because it required minimal work on their part as all they had to do was modify the D9's existing model geometry via Max/Blender. They didn't have to create an entirely new aircraft from scratch with entirely new systems, components, animations, etc. And they knew it would sell... Again, it serves no purpose in the game as it can't operate as was intended.

I have plenty of missions where the medium bombers are above 17,000 ft. At 17,000 ft the FW 190 D9 is seriously out of breath (bad acceleration, poor climb) and the Bf 109 K4 handles like a wet flounder (poor maneuverability in the thin air). The FW Ta 152 has excellent handling, great speed and outstanding climb above 15,000 ft. Given the Nitrous boost kicks in above 11,000 ft, I'm enjoying flying it on any incercept above 11,000 ft. It doesn't fly like a 'modded D9'. Its performance envelop feel like an entirely different plane...

@@WW2AviationGeek The Ta 152 was meant to intercept the B-29 at 35K+ feet, period. That was what it was designed for, and it's performance envelope was designed around that airframe. Again, IL-2 has no heavy bombers like the B-17, B-24, Lancaster, let alone the B-29 that fly at said service ceiling. It's a pig below 15K. The IL-2 dev's did the same thing with regards to the G-6E and G-6L. They lazily applied awful texture fixes in an attempt to make them look early and late, and it shows. See the horiz panel sets that are external on the rear fuselage for those 109's. They knew that idiots would buy the 152 just for the sake of, even though it can't serve it's purpose as was intended because the dynamic campaign and MP do not have the HSC aircraft to necessitate it.

I subscribe to the @WWIIUSBombers channel and he definately gets the last word on this... but I don't think the B-29 ever flew at 35,000 ft in the ETO. I have always thought of 'altitude' as a 'place', not a distance. 10,000 ft is a 'place' where I, as a pilot', need oxygen. 17,000 ft is a place where my plane needs oxygen (or something to help it function)!!! At 17,000 ft, the D9 and K4 perform sub-optimally. I have plenty of bomber intercept missions in IL-2 at 17,000 ft. It is so nice to have a plane (the Ta 152) that was designed for this 'place'... and it is fun and rewarding to learn how this plane flys at 17,000 ft and higher!!!

To give you my input as a German flight engineer in this discussion you have to know how the Ta152 H1 really performed in the war. You have to watch, read and listen the real experts and find the good believable sources...the pilots who really flew it! I dont know if you understand german but here is the link and there is english subtitle: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mdymgZiFypzaZ3k.htmlsi=dDgm27nH1KUPm4kl He flew the Ta152 in 50 m AGL against Tempests, Mustangs, Thunderbolds cause at the end of the war there were so many allied planes that it didnt make sense to climb so high even this plane was intended to intercept bombers in 10000m. Yes it was designed as a high altitude fighter but in the reality it was used often not in this role. B-29 never flew bombing missions in Europe and the real pilots said the Ta152 was incredibly maneuvable called the german Spitfire. The Göring Mischung 1 (GM-1) was used in 11000m not ft. It was used over the maximum available manifold pressure to compensate the oxygene loss for the Jumo213e. At first i was also worried cause no heavy bombers are in IL-2 but after the interwiev and some low and mid altitude fights in the Ta152 i was very happy. It flew in the war at tree level and this is fine. So there is nothing unrealistic...

@@olekundbolek9160 Thank you very much for your post. I promise you that I do watch, read and listen very carefully. Here is an excellent video on the Ta 152 in English: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h-Cid7uexreXXX0.htmlsi=H6nSiJj4RX5W-hh4 It has quotes and comments from German pilots and Eric 'Winkle' Brown. By all accounts, it was an outstanding plane at any altitude. In this sim (IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Bodenplatte) it has advantages against many planes at different altitudes. As a combat pilot, knowing your plane's performance envelope against relative advantages against competitors is what keeps you alive...
