FX Hybrid Slugs in .25 cal Pest Squirrel Dispatch Another Wisconsin AirGunners First!

Are the new Hybrid Slugs by FX the real deal? Are they accurate? Do you have to shoot them at 1000FPS? What is the terminal performance like?
We don't have all of the answers, but we are off and running trying to find them out!
This video is about a first, at least the first we know of...the first squirrel shot in Wisconsin with these new .25 caliber pellets. The shot was with an FX Crown with a 380mm barrel, a standard pellet liner, and the gun was set up to shoot at only 748 FPS!

Fantastic video! I am about to get some of these for my 22 Umarex Origin. Great to know that such expansion can be obtained with "only" 748 FPS! I think I can get even higher FPS than that with 22 grain FX hybrids, which hopefully lead to even greater expansion. Nothing worse than having a squirrel shot thru the lung/heart area with CPHP escaping from the tree to the attic! (with a break barrel, maybe 700+ FPS, small hole in, small hole out) That 1st experience led to mostly head shots, but I would prefer being able to aim at a larger target and still feel sure of putting them down. The JSB Hades have been working MUCH better, but these seem to be another step up!

I got a slug liner for my FX Impact MKII and then they came out with the superior liner, so I guess I’ll have to get one of those. It never ends

The superior barrel works great Pj!!!! Got my crown shooting them around 935-941 gen 1!! Pre continuum.. great shot look like there doing dam good for yours in the 380..

It will be interesting to see what they do. I get the sense that it isn’t as simple as just making the same design bigger. I wish I understood the engineering and physics a little better.

@@WiscAirGunners yes I agree. I should be getting my impact in .35 early next week from talon tunes and I hope to be testing the hybrids this summer. I'll let you know how it goes

That exit hole is something else… I’m confused, do you have the continuum? My .25 continuum came with the superior x barrels on both sizes. I wasn’t aware of it, until I ordered one from Utah air guns and that same day I took off the shroud and noticed it…. I was able to cancel my order in time 😅

So you’re getting 748 FPS with max power setting? Also, what’s your regulator set to?

take into consideration the barrel length as well, with a 600mm over the 380mm you should expect 100 fps more on average. with the 700mm maybe all the way maybe 150+ fps on average. that 748 is actually pretty good. temp/pressure has a lot to do with it too.

It depends on the time of year and the condition of the animal. I've found that I have some neighbors who leave out poison for field mice, and I have some reasons to be concerned that the squirrels may not be free of that.

@@nobs2767 I have some friends that do some traditional Thai and Laos cooking and they have made some amazing dishes. In the fall when I have time to go out and hunt out of a neighborhood like I'm in now it's a different story.

@@WiscAirGunners that sounds good, we fry them or eat them in a gravy here in Louisiana. If you fry them, I suggest boiling them for about 30 mins before frying to tenderize them first, especially the fox squirrels.
