No the gravel sock is pretty fine i used to have sand substrate I never seen sand get pass the sock

I’m sure it would as long as you are able to pull a siphon from the canister filter the fx6 has a draw off valve on the bottom I close the intake and I open the draw off while keeping the return open it has a ton of suction I’ve also have used it during a water change as well it works amazing thank you for watching my video tank on 👊👊👊

FX-5 and FX-6 evacuate air easily

Yes it does add some air but small amounts it runs off the filters pump the fx6 purges all the air out on its own also when you disconnect the vacuum I always crack open the out valve first then the in valve that also helps bleed out air but it completely purges out the air in a few minutes and ever 12 hrs the system shuts off and bleeds out any air all on its own

The fx6 purges out any air all on its own but very little air gets trapped once the vacuum sucks in all the water and the system purges air out on its own

No if you iscolate the valve it shuts the water off in that hose if you close both valves the canister can continue to run with no issues if your going to open the canister up then you want to close both valves and turn the canister off by unplugging it thank you for wat the video

Yes somewhat because the fx 4,6 will take in some air after you disconnect the gravel vac the filter will self purge the air out and some water loss is completely normal to a degree as long as it isn’t like gallons lol you should be good plus it’s summer and evaporation is more so now do to the warm weather as well hope this helps and tank on keep a look out for a lot of videos on my channel I’m setting up a 540 gallon tank with a huge sump system on it with a custom built stand thanks for watching

Even when I use my canister to refill. It Drains the tank.

@@dhiyaesmail1297 is all the valves closed there are 3 valves on the fluval fx4 fx6 and how are you refilling your tank threw a canister filter be sure all your gaskets are in place as well

They are when I refill I close out open water change value and put the hose in a container where I have my water ready

Yes but it would be a regular syphon gravel vac at that point and you would be losing the benefit of the fx6 motor

Yes absolutely just be sure not to suck up the sand in the process while gravel vacuuming

Absolutely just hover over the sand making sure not to suck up the sand I’ve used it on sand many times works very well
