Sergei seemed to be a gentle and tender person. And he smiled a lot. The world lost a great skater and a true soul.

Theirs was such a beautiful love story...it’s heartbreaking knowing that he was taken so suddenly and so young. Watching them together on ice has to be ....seeing the most perfect couple ever to skate together! A match made in heaven...R.I.P. dear Sergei ...you will never be forgotten.

However many times I watch this video, it has the same effect - the tears well up and I think how perfect they were together. However old I get, if I hear this song in 10 or 20 years time, I will still think of Sergei and Katerina.

I too have seen these two skate and each time you see the love between them. Sergei .died so young but the love that he gave to his family and friends and the love that they gave him just lite up his life.

At the end, when he spun her around by hand ( sorry not sure of the terminology ),I've seen so many figure skate couples doing this all of my life ,but the way she spun w/ her knee bent like that ! & the trusts between them ,I can feel it in my heart !!! So so strong !!! Very strong couple ! Dynamite !!! M.Davis & C.White had it ,too as they grew up together ! And the retired Chinese gold medalist couple ! But , these two here had very heavy trusts for each other ,unshakable , like an anchor of a ship in the middle of water that's not going anywhere !!! Эта история всемирной любви. Вечной любви. И нашей любви к этой паре и память. В старину про такую любовь былины складывали. Сказки это как-то иллюзорно. А былины это самое оно. Представляете сколько людей стали свидетелями такого чувства, даже за океаном. Их любили и любят и помнят по сей день. Смотреть на это и приятно и душу раздирает от финала этой истории. И совершенно непонятно, как и почему закончилось так рано эта любовь. Несправедливо.

I have both books. My Sergei and A Letter For Daria. He died when I was a year old but I've became very fascinated in this sport ever since I was six years old. And when I heard this story for the first time, I nearly cried. I just couldn't believe what happened. It felt horrible to learn that they were great with each other from the very beginning since they were kids. And won many awards and titles together. Then as they got older they became more and more in love with each other got married and finally had a child of their own. Then three years after their daughter was born, he was just gone. I'm so glad that Sergei's sudden tragic death didn't keep Katia off the ice. She's an amazing skater and person. I'm also glad that Daria is following in her parents foot steps and skating too. She is also amazing.

It's STILL heartbreaking all these years later; and I am certain Katia feels the same way. Perhaps the intensity of their love wasn't meant to last too long on this earth.
