Trente ans après, le génocide des Tutsi au Rwanda reste une plaie ouverte.
Étienne Nsanzimana, Jean-François Dupaquier, Jean Hatzfeld, Faustin Murangwa, Louise Mushikiwabo… À la veille des commémorations des 30 ans du génocide, qui débuteront le 7 avril à Kigali, Jeune Afrique a interrogé celles et ceux qui ont vécu les faits au plus près ou qui, depuis trente ans, en ont fait le cœur de leur travail.
Cinq témoins, cinq épisodes, pour autant de face-à-face en vidéo avec, chaque fois, cette question : comment cela a-t-il été possible ?
Pour ce deuxième épisode, nous avons rencontré Jean-François Dupaquier, journaliste et historien, qui évoque l'implication française aux côtés du régime génocidaire fait toujours polémique.

Est-ce c'est la France qui avait dicté à Paul Kagame d'abattre l'avion qui transportait Habyarimana? - si Kagame et compagnie n'avaient tuer Habyarimana, le génocide n'allait pas avoir lieu. En quoi la France est coupable? Ce sont des rwandais qui ont massacré des rwandais sur le sol rwandais pas en France, et Kagame sachant les consequences de son acte, voudrait que la France vienne abattre le feu qu'il avait allumer?

What happened in 1994 in Rwanda was certainly prepared, it's not something that happens randomly. People have to be thought hate to the point of taking a machete and kill their own neighbors on the basis of ethnicity, do you think it's an easy job? I don't think so. In 1959, 1973, was there a plane that crashed to cause such events? Yet some of our parents became exiles in neighboring countries fearing for their lives simply because of how they were born. Trying to come back, it was said that the country was full, even now in 2024, there are still spaces and lands all ready to host people. How can you explain the well studied out statistics of households of those who were to be killed? The unpunished hate speech circulating on radios and newspapers...To be successful it has to be supported by the acting government, through good propaganda, well prepared logistics and human resources to do the ugly job...that's why it's called a genocide perpetrated against the targeted population of Tutsi.

@@urukarigroupclips It's you and your other Kagame's propagandists who call it the genocide against the Tutsi, the whole world call it the rwandan genocide because Tutsi, moderate Hutu and twa were all massacred

@@zamunda_king It's not the whole world since the UN calls it for what it is, unlike you who denies it. Why is it called the genocide against the Tutsi...it's called so because a genocide in nature by definition is perpetrated against a group of people on the basis of ethnicity, nationality, religion and so on...For this case it's not all Rwandans who were the targets, and if it was a rwandan genocide it would suggest that it was outsiders who targeted the Rwandans and killed them yet it's not the case.
