G-plus 30 Row Cooler Review For Trans Cooling On 3rd Gen Cummins

Just wanted to share another piece in our quest for a trans cooler that can handle the heat from our transmissions after we deleted the factor liquid to liquid cooler that mounts on the back, driverside of the block. If you browse though our other videos you will see that we have already tried a tru-cool max and a 40 row cooler. Our plan for this is to double up 2 of these 30 row coolers in a series and see if 60 rows will take care of the cooling. This set up will be used on the the project Snowball if you want to follow along long turn. If you have questions about the most current results, just shoot me a message.

Just checking in for an update on how the G-Plus 30-row coolers are working? Any issues? I assume you ran then side by side in front of the radiator on your 3rd Gen. Any pic of the final install you could share? I didn't see a video of the install in your feed. I'm planning to set up the same system, install new transmission cooler lines, and also bypass the heat exchanger on the block. Thanks for any update info!

Yeah. So far it has been great. No leaks and good cooling as monitored by our trans temp gauge. We are using 2 of them in series to cool our trans with out the factory liquid to liquid cooler. It seems to keep Temps in check.

@@70440charger thank you for the reply, do you think it will be good to used on 1995 Chevy 6.5l engine truck to cool the oil. I messaged a seller on eBay if they are sure it won't leak and they replied " it will leak if use long time" not even sure with the response.

What's the heat capacity of this 30-row cooler?

If I remember correctly, the specs for a stacked plate cooler was around 50K BTU's. We have really been impressed with 2 of these tired together in series. It sheds a lot of heat!!!

hey, i am looking to eluminate my cooler at the from of my 5.9 Cummins and do remote cooler, how are you doing with your cooler set up/>

So we felt like we had good temperature control with the tru-cool, but unfortunately we it sprang a leak at one of the seams. We considered trying to get tru-cool to replace the cooler but opted to try 2 30 row coolers instead. We don't have any issues with the trucks moving (between 115 and 155) but have seen temps get to 180-200 with slow speeds and a trailer. We haven't tried it with the a/c and towing yet. I think the real lesson is it will really be up to how good your factory fan is and the seal with the fan shroud. We have a big gap between our 2nd gen fans and the 3rd gen fan shroud. If yours is factory on factory- you should see even better low speed results.

@@70440charger I don't know what your setup is but locking the torque converter whenever possible will reduce heat a lot, the vast majority of the heat in the transmission comes from torque converter slippage. When the torque converter is locked, power goes right through it and the transmission with no slippage like a manual trans.

How is the gplus oil cooler? Any leaks like the trucool?

@@halfmoon5022 I don't know what exactly you mean by "heavy duty use", but I have been using this cooler on my Civic for 2 months now and I have no leaks. The cooler is quite heavy and solid, even the fins take some effort to bend. I really don't see it leaking unless it is physically damaged somehow or severely overpressurized. Hope this helps
