Thanks Andre. 4 of the cars still need the Canada logos and flags added. Hopefully I can finish that this summer. Eventually I'd like to add two more dome cars to the train. So, somebody at VIA had some good connections, and as part of my website's 25th anniversary, they got ahold of the CNR E9's ( 102/103 ) in black, green, and gold. ( Aristocraft ) I think they look pretty good pulling the train. I have some video, and if the week goes well, maybe I'll get it posted this weekend.

Thanks Aikenknees2013 Railway. I have a set of Aristo CN E8's that could be put into service if USA Trains doesn't come through with the F40PH's.

Thanks Franz-Peter. Four of the cars still need their flag and Canada logos. I use a Cameo Silhouette to cut paint stencils into sticker paper. That's how I apply markings to all of my rolling stock. USA Trains hinted they were going to make an F40PH, so I'm hoping that will lead the train some day. I'm in western Canada, and the GE locomotives only operate in the east.

@@CanadianrailroadsCa Thanks for the explanation. I hope you do not mind a couple of follow up questions: Do you do the cutting by hand, or with a plotter? How do you remove the factory print on the cars? And how did you do the blue stripe? 🙂 A USA Trains F40PH in Via colours would surely be great. Do you know why Via does not use the GEs on the long distance trains? With the Chargers now on the corridor, I would have expected that they are cascaded on.

@@franz-peterkayser722 No problem. My Cameo Silhouette does all the cutting for me. The stencils can only be used once, so I can't imagine having to do it by hand. I use 1500 grit sandpaper to carefully remove the old markings. I tried using alcohol, but had no luck with it. As for the stripe, I carefully sand off the old road name, mask it and spray using Rust-Oleum gloss deep blue. I use school bus yellow for the VIA logo. ( the four coaches were Pennsylvania Congressional cars, and are the best VIA match. The remaining four cars were Canadian Pacific. ) I'm not sure why VIA doesn't use GE's in the west. I guess they have lots of the F40PH available as they are being replaced in the east. They're still a good locomotive.

Merry Christmas RockwallCanyonRR. That was a CP car, so the flat spot you see is actually the Canadian Pacific name plate painted over. The best match I found were the Pennsylvania Congressional cars, but sadly there is no dome car in that series. That's what I used for the four coach cars. The baggage, dome, diner and observation were CP.

@Canadian Railroads Merry Christmas to you as well! Thanks for the advice! I expected the CP would be the ideal car, but wasn't sure if they were ever actually made...Great to know there may be some out there! The car I'm modeling is a former Orford Express (originally NP) dining dome car now at Conway Scenic in New Hampshire. Although they had the car in service this fall, they claim to be working out a new color scheme during the off season. Hopefully I can find one when the new look is revealed!

Hi Sebastian. For the yellow, I used School Bus Yellow from Sherwin Williams/Dupli-Color. For the blue I used Gloss Deep Blue from Rust-Oleum.
