I want to add a third g3x 10.6 inch display for the back seat in m RV-8, is it possible to disable critical features(Autopilot and radios) on this display and have it so a passenger can only look at maps etc? Also, is it possible to play movies on the display? Can't seem to find the information in instal guide and pilot guide.

That’s a terrific idea. I’m not sure if you’ve seen this video with Mike Patey and his “Scrappy” Cub-based designed aircraft. But he did this with a landscape 7” display for this very purpose. Check out this video around the 15:30 mark: facebook.com/garminaviation/videos/597161694318159 While you can completely remove the radios from access on the top bar, the autopilot access is not completely removed from the display. However, configuring the display as a dedicated MFD requires the passenger to press “Menu, Menu, Autopilot” to access. Standard on every G3X Touch flight display is a composite video BNC connection that can be interfaced to anything with that output, including DVD players. Thank you for considering Garmin! ^DK

What is the file format of the flight plan? I would like to build my own flight planning software and transfer my flight plan to G3X.

@@GarminInt Thank you for your reply. Is connext protocol only for flight planning transfer? Is it possible to get the flight stream data and save the data with my code? I need to get the data and save it to a wireless device either using bluetooth or wifi.
