G56 Manual Swap in a 4th Gen Ram - Part 8

In Part 8 I discuss the interior pieces I went with which was a modified business console since I was unsuccessful procuring Laramie trim Jump seat. I made modifications to the business console in order to blend with some of the factory OEM G56 interior set up. I show the modifications that were made to tie the interior into the manual swap but yet have effective storage space within the cab.

Did a great job. Looks like it takes a little more smarts than your average dork to push through all the wiring and programming. I think I would just build my 68. Again great job

@@thekanemadness1 is it easier to do a key insert truck ? I have a 2015 ram 3500 tradesman with the key fob and dog leg 4x4 and the business seat already

@joelstrickland5722 yes. Trucks with WIN module don’t require the RFH to be changed. Less electrical involved in those swaps

@@thekanemadness1could I use the stock floor peace with the dog leg 4x4 or do I need to order the one for a manual truck specifically or is there a difference

I’d have to hook up and recheck. I changed pretty much anything regarding automatic to manual for parameters. I made a back up first so I had all the original parameter settings saved.

Any recommendations for someone looking to do this? I have an 18 big horn 2500 and I know the 68 is the weak point for me towing as much as I do with the truck lifted 6” on 35x15.5s. I did regear so I’m sure that’s helped me so far. Appreciate any input or maybe a general parts list to start collecting thanks

I was always worried with my 68 as I knew it was the soft spot. With the G56 I no longer worry about that. I also prefer manual so made the decision easy. Check wreckers and you can find these at a decent price. They can pull a premium but sometimes you can find the hidden gems. I did a lot of reading and research prior to swapping. Lots of parts shopping for the interior bits and odds and ends. But I haven’t regretted it !

You have to be willing to do looking at wreckers, online on mopar parts, rock auto and find the deals. You will get out of it what you put into it.

Is there anyway i can get the info for the guy you talked to in the states? Im having issues with my abs and i have no idea what to do about it and cant figure it out. i figure since you didnt have that issue you wont know to much as to why. I have a 2015 ram 2500 limited. And im also having an issue with the push to start i bought the part that you showed the part number for but my auto had a green plug as well and im not sure what thats for and just want to make sure im not losing anything important thank you in advance

How's your 4wd? Does four low work?

@spencerA99 All works as an OEM G56 Truck. Plugged in the factory clutch switch provision. Used AlfaOBD to program some body controller parameters from an Auto to Manual.

I’m getting parts to swap into my 2010 do you regret doing the swap? And also did you have to re-do your driveline?

@krayzyr1 no regrets. Yes I did have to lengthen the front shaft 1.75”. I was able to get by with just polishing the slip on the rear shaft and still have some room.

@@thekanemadness1 What does it mean to polish the shaft? And how do you how much you need to do to have a proper fit?

@joemcgrath981 the driveshaft then moves further in so where the seal rides is further back which previously with the 68 was more exposed. Polish can be done with some emery paper until it’s shiny and smooth again. It’s worked well for me with out issue.
