@Agboka
@Agboka 2 жыл бұрын
With all due respect, what do you mean by "tradition is killing our progress"? If anything, the lack of tradition is our downfall as a nation. We as black people in Africa have one tradition that we have in common, but we rather chose to be many things as the same time like muslims and Arabic culture, christians with European culture, hindus with Indian culture, Pentecost, SDA, catholic, anglican, Seven Day, etc. A civilized nation would have adopted a national culture and tradition that we all shared in common to create a national cohesion instead of the many splintered religious affiliations we belonged?

@@Agboka Exactly bro. This man is doing well and I trust has good intentions. However, I disagree with some of the things he said. For instance, I believe we as a country should be using our individual strengths of belonging to different tribes together to build a national culture where I dont need to come speak Ga, Twi or Ewe to you before I get employed or helped in any way. In my someway opinion, lots of people refuse to identify with thier ethnic culture mainly due to the foreign religions we have all adopted. These believes have turn us away from ourselves making us stagnant.

I agree with the minister but there is also another problem which is urban migration. In my opinion that is the root cause of all the problems in Accra. In Ghana it looks like the only place people want to live is the Greater Accra Region. This region is the smallest in land area yet everyone and their grandmother want to move here. On top of that the entire Ga-Adangme ethnic group make up the smallest part of the major ethnic groups in Ghana. Therefore it is easy for us to be outnumbered by migrants from other regions and even non Ghanaians who come to Accra to seek greener pastures. We are correct to hold Ga Danmge chiefs accountable but the government is also at fault for not developing the other regions and creating equal opportunities for them in order to stop the mass migration to Accra. Right now it is easy to point at Ga chiefs and people and say they sold their lands but if another region was the capital, their people will suffer the same fate because we all know selling of lands is not limited to one ethnic group. It is just that the Accra area is like a gold rush for everybody who want to live and do business in Ghana. Even Ghanaians who live outside the country who did not grow up Accra, once they get money the first thing they want is buy or build a house in the Greater Accra Region. This has put pressure on chiefs and Ga families who own lands and properties as their greed is being exploited. If a city outside of the Greater Accra Region was the cosmopolitan capital, the indigenes would suffer the same fate Ga-Adangbe are suffering. This can happen to anyone. Wherever you come from in Ghana, if your language and culture is intact and your lands are not occupied by foreigners, it is because a vast majority of people including yourself do not want to live there. The government must develop other regions in order to ease pressure on Accra.

I agree with you! That is why there are lots of street hawkers in Accra. They need to address rural development; e.g., tackle basic amenities issues (water, electricity, etc), nurture/support local industries to expand, and so forth. Small towns must be equipped to run as a profit-making business.
