i am so surprised people loved this book! i gave it 2 stars because I guessed the ending really early on. It has the same sort of twist as Alice Feeney’s Sometimes I Lie. It felt a bit too obvious:( I am really excited for next months troop pick though!!

Really enjoyed the liveshow! Agree with the general consensus-vibe-wise it reminds me of Sundial by Catriona Ward.

I finished the book last night after having a chaotic weekend and missing the liveshow. This is definitely my favorite Booktroop pick so far also, I gave it 4.5 stars and loved the inspiration from Frankenstein as it's one of my favorite classics. I think putting more of the podcast element into the book would definitely have taken this book to a 5 star read. This was also my first Jennifer McMahon, so I definitely want to pick up the other books you love by her, Gabby. Loved the liveshow and all the minor misgivings you and Gavin had with the book, i.e. the kiss, like what!? Haha, can't wait for next month's controversial pick

Great book pick, Gabby! I really enjoyed the book (I gave it a 4 star). One thing that was lacking for me was the end as I felt that we spent this whole book leading up to one point (in the present time) only for it to be wrapped up/resolved in like 6 pages. It felt too rushed for me. Other than that this was a solid Jennifer McMahon novel!

I read it after the live show sadly but as soon as I finished it I had to come watch it this because I needed to know what you guys thought of it because I loved it!!! ❤

Here I am 7 months later because I just finished it this morning . I did enjoy it, liked the then story line better than the now. I also figured out all of the plot twists pretty early on. I have yet to find an author that surprises me. The only party that suprised me was Eric…the Eric twist

The book Frankenstein is very different from any of the movies. The monster's personality is really fleshed out (pun intended) and you learn who the real monster is in this story. I highly recommend the book.

I had a thought about Violet and Iris, because they pointed out more than once that they resembled each other. Gran had twins that were supposedly still born. It might have been interesting if Violet and Iris actually were twins, and Gran used them for her research from the very beginning. There are psychiatrists in history that used their own children to test their theories and add to their research.

Once again I missed the live but I thought this book was very interesting and intriguing.

I gave the book 3.5 stars primarily because I didn’t enjoy the chapters from Lizzy’s POV. If the book was just focused on the inn, Gran, and the kids I would have given the book 5 stars. I love historical fiction and mystery and the kids chapters gave me those

I just finished the audiobook today, the library loan didn't come in before the live show 😢. I think 4 stars is what I'll give it. I wish the ending hadn't been so rushed.
