I agree, one of your best hiking videos so far. I hope that you will have good weather when you will hiking around in these Zermatt days. Gornergrat and Klein Matterhorn are amazing but not cheap.

I'd just like to say that hiking from Zermatt to Gornergrat and back isn't too difficult, but is one of the most epic all day hikes I've ever done

Oh Lord ,Mr Traveler! Zermatt in Switzerland , is a land and mountain scape painter's paradise ! I'll bet the air there is so fresh and crisp ? What a stunningly beautiful location in which to film and discover ... good man !

Zermatt is my favorite place on Earth, although I haven't been to all that many countries yet. I've only been twice but it's somewhere that I'll never forget. My most recent trip was in September 2022 and despite rain two of the four days I was there it was amazing. I'm sure you've found the information office by now it's near the train station and they should be able to give you info on all the fantastic hikes in the area. I think the best view of the Matterhorn is if you take the Gornergrat Bahn. There are also a number of hikes that start from different stations on the way up or down from the Gornergrat that are fabulous. Enjoy!!

That is an epic walk!!!! Those little restaurants so quaint! For sure the beer with the best view. I did few years ago some walking around st. Moritz after I took the Bernina express, which is unforgettable! I found Switzerland one of the most relaxing places, especially when doing trails.

45 years ago I remember waking up in the youth hostel in Zermat looking out the window and there was the Matterhorn. Incredible

Its just crazy how expensive Switzerland has become. Gabriel really nailed it when he explained how strong the Swiss Franc is. Back in the day I used to go skiing with my dad in Davos, another amazing mountain destination by the way. That was back in the 90's when the Dutch still had the Guilder as currency. 1 Swiss Franc used to be around 1.30 Guilders. When we got the Euro the official exchange rate was one Euro for 2.2 Guilders. That was around the year 2000, so a Swiss Franc at that time was a little under 2 Francs for a Euro. Now.... the Swiss Franc is around 1 Euro... This will also tell you how crazy the inflation of the Dollar is. Because the Euro always was around the same value as the Dollar and still is, so even the Dollar devaluated almost 50% towards the Swiss Franc. When you look at the British Pound its even more crazy and going toward 60-70% inflation in about 25 years compared to the Franc. Now this doenst reflect actual economic performance because thats a whole other matter. In some cases a strong currency can even be a massive liability because it means you are expensive for your customers, however this doenst have seem to hurt the Swiss that much because they still have a massive trade surplus. "Swiss made" is obviously a mark of quality so people are prepared to pay more for things that are made in the country.

I was in Zermatt a few years ago on a train tour of Switzerland. Took the train up to the view point of The Mat. and just got one glempse of the Horn when no one else saw the view I did . Super coo once in a lifetime thing.

You can take the Matterhorn Express - gondola - all they way up to the base of the Matterhorn, above the clouds if it is cloudy in the valley. It's a great place to have a beer!

Well, beautiful Switzerland can hardly be beat. I've spent about three months off and on there, but it's been a while. However, I just bought my tickets for a three and a half week Indian adventure and you are partly to blame for that Gabriel. It'll be my first time in India. Can't wait. Going solo.

The train showed up, on the right platform, and just ten minutes before our 10 o'clock departure for Basel. That must be our train, right? Nope, not in Switzerland. I approached a platform master (decked out like an 18th century general) and said hopefully, "Is that the ten o'clock train to Basel? The guy seemed shocked, swept his arm up toward a huge clock that said 9:50 am and roared, "Does that look like ten o'clock to you?" Oh dear, how could I make such a dunderhead mistake? The 9:50 am train glided off and six minutes later, just before 10, the Basel train showed up. It's all funny now but I wouldn't want to live in the uber punctilious manner of the Swiss every day.

The "gate" does not mean that you have to stop. Usually it is there for the cows. And the word "Std" on the sign is short form for "Stunden" which means hours. Greets from southern Germany, enjoy the amazing Alps!
