A kid from my highschool was dumb as rocks but he always did his homework. He got into MIT. He wasn't a genius at all. I know I'm far from genius but when we went to middle and highschool, I created a company, sold it 5 years later while we were in freshman year of college. I then joined the mitary because I got bored of how success just came to easily. Now 4 years later, I got bored, I'm going back to finish a degree and he's working in industry. I'd say I've had much more success than he has and he went to a prestigious school. Goes to show that if you want to get into a top school, all you gotta do is your homework. He did all his homework and aced exams. I didn't do any homework, skipped classes, built my first company, but aced exams. People like him now work for me, sooooooooo lmaoooooo

Schools from 1st till 12th grade taught you how to be a good student. And it is not school fault that you are not succeed in studying. Its yourself to blame. If prestigious universities lower the standard requirements to let all kinds of students in. Then where is fairness here? Is the effort of good students thrown away?? On top of that you will have access to research facilities and programs you wouldn’t have at a worse college. More of related but the actual education is better for instance if you took math 55 at Harvard you’re Knowledge on mathematics would be much deeper than if you just took your average college class.

Well, as a Harvard student, I can say one thing that matters the most is actually connections. With these connections you literally secure your future and another thing is that you are surrounded by geniuses which creates the pressure to do better and you improve with those people. Also, Harvard classes are no joke. It is really hard to study here, especially if you are a STEM major. Last semester I took classes that had 10 hour per day homework. So, it is not for everyone and it is tough. Is it still overrated? Yes, but not to a point that you can underestimate its value

Princeton undergrad here... speaking on behalf of the Ivy League and other top uni's, our curriculum is actually very hard and we offer very advanced courses with renowned professors that makes it very exclusive. We have a giant network of notable alumni and the research opportunities, from international researching to using the most advanced tech, is simply unmatched. Also the extreme admission process makes it so that you learn in an environment with only geniuses around you. When I was in high school people slept during class and never asked question, but here at Princeton prodigies are everywhere and dominate the classrooms. I'd also like to compare one thing... I planned to enroll in Arizona State University which is a public uni with a massive undergrad population, and they only start teaching Calculus in MAT 267. But at Princeton Calculus starts at MAT 103! Also because of how unfathomably rich the Ivy League schools are, chances are you will NEVER need loans or run into any student debt. I literally get paid just learning. These are just the few things on the surface that distinguish world-class schools from most uni's. Also it's 5:52 am I need to sleep bye

@@leodevardinho6555 yes it is nice here There is virtually no difference between an average university and a "prestigious" university Both will give me a degree which would lead to a job, right? Only some minor differences. Only noticeable difference is that one costs a boatload of money just because of its name You can guess which one it is

The thing is, employers will still prefer hiring people who went to such a school to people who didn't, and in the end that's what most people care about the most

That's literally the point, though. By graduating from Ivy Leagues, you have a higher opportunity for jobs precisely because employers know you're at the top of the field due to the ardous screening process.

My dream school is actually Cornell (also an Ivy League) and I actually didn’t know it was an Ivy League😅. So I wanted to go there not to show off or anything. I just wanted to join for their great programs, libraries, dining halls and all that.
