I love this song. Like people these days don’t understand that love this a BIG thing. You can’t just love someone in a day or a week. Like it takes time to grow that bond and power. People ship falling for each other, and go straight to “love” but it’s not love. It’s to commonly said..people just don’t understand that. Love is dangerous, tricky, POWERFUL, serious.

Definitely one of my favorite songs of all time. Funny story the first time I heard this, my friend played it on her phone during a lab activity in class, and it just so happened my other two friends and I were experiencing our own respective issues regarding love, of guys who were just moving too fast for our comfort, and of the sheer ambiguity in where all of it was headed. What hit me though was the message - so clear and simple. Love in its nature is fickle and unpredictable. While some face it head-on, there are others who have trouble taking the next step. And why shouldn't they? At the present, love is an easy word to say and give - especially for most people - after such a short time with that person. But, out of all the confessions and sweet nothings, how mamy of them were genuine? How long would it last? How fast would it fade? How deep would it cut when it's ripped away? For me, Gabrielle is not just singing of a girl who's afraid to love and commit to a guy who she may or may never end up with. It's also about liking someone and being in that moment with them without all these expectations set in place. Personally speaking, setting people up with expectations in order to adhere to some sort of standard for a relationship or commitment doesn't really end well for both parties. Declaring your love for someone isn't supposed to be staking your claim on them or trying to take way their insecurities in your relationship. It's not supposed to be rushed and forced, because that's exactly what the entire relationship would turn out, and you'll only feel deprived of not going through the whole experience. It's about taking your time to get to know one another, to be comfortable with each other and to build trust in each other and in the future for the both of you to love without finding any excuses not to.
