I have an old early 2000s Luminox 3600 titanium quartz. I wore it in the military my entire time in the Middle East around aircraft and taking it to altitude, it did quite well and got knocked around quite a bit, and I have been swimming in three oceans with it. When I got back it survived a lot of mountain biking until the hands finally fell off about 9 years ago, I had Saltzman's put new ones on and it is still in my daily wear rotation. I in no way claim that I was as rough on it as a Marine or Special Forces operative but it has been a good watch for what I have put it through, and I enjoy the memories when I wear it today.

One of my favorite watches of all time was a Smith and Wesson with tritium, and I miss it. I keep thinking of grabbing one of these.

FYI I do know that Luminox isn't real used by seal teams . They're issued the GShok Mudman in BUDS. After training , provided they make it , it's always.kind of been a tradition to buy a Rolex Submariner. Just a little trivia.

solid and good looking watch, for outdoor activity i have a Swiss military Wenger classic field watch for US$50 for 4 months now, it has a Ronda quartz movement run +2sec/month, 100m water resistant, and sapphire coated crystal. Time Will tell how tough it takes comfare to the G shock.

Nice :).. and Ronda is one of the best doing quartzmovements.. and i have seen many big brands that uses quartz that dont hit the sconds in the chapter ring ( as you said ) and thats bad, especially if you pay a lot of money.. So this one is realy good. and a nice review :)

I don't think we have the same definition of a "GADA" watch. To me, it's a watch that you can wear doing sports (including swimming and possibly diving), or with casual wear, with a suit, possibly even a wedding if you want to stretch the definition a bit. E.g. the stainless steel Rolex Submariner or the AP Royal Oak. What you're talking about is just a sports watch.

Nice review Rib. If Luminox used t100 tritium tubes, I think Liminox uses t25 tubes in all of their watches. I would be temped to get another one. My first one wasn’t bright after owning it for several years. T 100 tritium tubes are just amazingly bright. Nite Watches has them available in watches very similar to Luminox. Like you, I have never damaged a sapphire crystal. Imhave definitely scratched a bunch of mineral crystals. I picked up my Luminox as Service Merchandise was going out of business in my area. I bought it for about half of MSRP, or I never would have bought it. When I eventually sold it, I got about what I paid for it (10 years after purchasing it).

Would've love it a few years ago, but I'm over 50 now (tho a keen biker! & do wear a watch to sleep) so my lifestyle is much more gentle, and I much prefer more refined automatics.. I’m not keen on the gold bits. What’s the best bezel action this one on the luminox or the new omega seamaster? I’ve bought 2 g shocks and a Hamilton khaki field automatic, lovely watches all . But I got the 42mm version hammy and I’m thinking 🤔 I should of got the 38mm more classic size , I’ve got a 7 and a half inch watch. What would you have got Bruce?

I own two Luminox, great watches when they can be had for +/- $200. Be careful of counterfeit Luminox evidently they are fairly common. I found mine at TJ Maxx.

How about a marathon quartz tsar as a alternative?

Wearing a Luminox 8830 "Recon" (a GMT with a Ronda 515 movement), as I'm writing this. Mine is over 6 years old. And I couldn't be happier. For those unfamiliar with Ronda Movements - when It's time to change the Battery; the Watch will still be Keeping Time. But the Second Hand, will appear to be erratic. Believe me, when You see that. You'll understand. ;-)

Luminox have always looked cool, look like a tag / breitling offspring. Mineral glass is just disappointing Though for a rugged do it all watch. The difference between sapphire and mineral is night and day . Seems funny that you've gone from 3 to a dozen now, and Jeff's down to 5 from around 10, lol. We are a weird bunch really aren't we ? Lol.

When I was a teen I used to have some, but honestly they look like cheap Aliexpress garbage. This days I can't stand that toy feel those watches tend to have.

Good watches. I like them. I have one. But the company doesn't seem like a very good one. No accessibility, no transparency.

BS.....Awesome watch but mineral crystal garbage scratched first week with regular wear....... My other luminox how's the sapphire lens I put that thing in the roughest work ever environments not even a scratch....... They shouldn't make them with that mineral glass big disappointment!!!
