Awesome review, thanks for taking the time out to do this for us. For punch with colour flexibility it makes a lot of sense. But the narrow and somewhat patchy beam + poor softbox performance make it less versatile than I’d hoped. I supposes a fully frosted diffuser on the cob would do the trick - but then there would be complaints that it’s not bright enough. Maybe the second generation of RGBACL lights will find ways to solve some of these issues.

Thank you for all you do to create this channel and keep us informed. It's loads of work you do to give us visible and accurate gear reviews. And I appreciate your non-rushed chill opinion. Your channel is one of my main go to references before I do my purchases. I think you have made Nanlux and Nanlite over 30K just from me. I know you keep your channel non-sponsored and I thank you for that, but you should be recompensed somehow, especially when you are giving up your free time for this. Thanks again good sir!

Hey Andrew, thank you for all your videos! If you were to start from scratch now and build a 1 ton van for small-ish productions, would you go full aputure or nanlux? Considering both their offer of lights/accesories/app control. Thank you in advance, would love to hear your thoughts

I have used this light two projects, I can not fault his light quality and performance, in the greenish fluorescent light shooting can also be a reasonable match, including matching the neon lights in the venue also no problem, but if there is no DMX system is still awkward, because the light control surface and the light head in the same location.

I would love to review the Q10. I got so excited about its release that I sold some lights to make space for two of them in my van when they were announced. But the price put an end to that idea, it was what I paid for a 4K years back. But I expected to get 20 years service out of a 4K. I think they offered me a light at 1/2 price for a review, but I still couldn't justify paying the other half and the full price on a second. A complex light takes a long time to review. This episode took me about 60 hours. Their deal just wouldn't have compensated me for the time and effort it would have taken.

I love youw work Andrew - keep up the good work! I have a question for you : As someone who seems to have a lot of experience with both - what would you say are the main differences, strengths and weaknesses between Sidus Link and Nanlink? I commonly hear that people proclaim that Sidus Link is “the best” but I never really hear people specify WHY that is.
@gaffergear
@gaffergear 11 ай бұрын
1st. I hate phone apps, they seem to work perfectly until I 100% need them to. I haven't got a huge amount of experience in both, but I find that when I connect a new light to the Aputure app it's parameters are correct. Nanlux seems to not get this right. For example the evoke 900c didn't have the correct CCT range in the app. I think Aputure has the stronger software team (in terms of fixing glitches and enhancements) But as a user I'm finding Nanlite has the better after sales support, such as gear repairs and replacements.

Sidus link sucks. I haven’t met a legitimate gaffer or electric that views it as a good solution for wireless control. It’s only useful for studio use due to close proximity, but even then every time you close your iPad or phone and then reopen you have to relink. NANLINK doesn’t have the disconnect issue, but still has the limited range issue that is inherent with Bluetooth.

I have all Aputure but this is the dream. Thanks for the review been waiting for this. Edit, shame about the drop off, still a weapon of a light. Hopefully they come out with a tailored fresnel. Pretty good goes well with my 600d with fresnel for brightness, colour me impressed. Does anyone know if the Prolyct has the same patchiness for R/G off to the sides and problems on white walls and kitchens? This is still a contender for my bag next year.

@@gabriellorenzo6589 Yeah true, and I'm on Sidus. Want more yellow yellows and lime greens however for most uses everyone says the 600c is bomber so it's all trade offs really. The price is a giant one I do admit.

Only advantage I see with the prolycht over the 600c is the extended color gamut. It’s not brighter at all which is really disappointing, and it’ll likely have the same spottiness issues in a softbox that these rgbacl lights have. If you’re thinking about the prolycht it seems like a better option either to spring for the 900c and get the much increased brightness, or just get the aputure and save $1000.

@@gabriellorenzo6589 In Andrew's review, looks like Evoke 900C output around 250% brighter than Aputure 600C? and on spot, it goes up to almost 600% brighter... very big difference... thats why is cheaper. Aputure 600C brightness output in my experience is just equivalent to a Aputure 300D...it's quite low...

I still haven't found the perfect cob-type key light for interior shots/interviews.. Low fan noise, a broad even beam to fill softboxes, no color shifts on the edge, Green/Mangenta correction, wide CCT range and plenty of power to counter sunlight through windows. Some come close but they always seem to miss one element or two.
@jeguschristie4300
@jeguschristie4300 Жыл бұрын
For interior use you're describing the Prolycht 675fs, has been my go to for keying subjects indoors. The output just starts to be disappointing once you start punching it through windows on an already bright day.

We're still in the pioneering stages of the color LED source lights. I have a feeling that in the next few years we'll see some company nail every detail in one light. Until then I would just keep renting lights and hold off on buying one.

Keep an eye on Kelvin Epos range - they seem be on the right path. Their 300w light is shipping now with a 600w at the end of the year. If they do a 1200 with the same features it could be the one.

@@cagf2013 Yeah those Kelvin Epos lights are interesting for sure. I want to see them do well and I'm shy about investing in lights from a newer manufacturer until they sustain a longer track record of being in business and establishing repair and service centers in the major metropolitan areas near me.
