Great machine and even better support from WLL. These videos are well done -- thank you for enhancing the get-to-know-the-machine period of my new purchase. My Philips Saeco went Tango Uniform after 8 years, so I replaced it with this almost identical unit. It gets HEAVY DAILY USE in my caffeine-is-not-an-option household. My infant daughter LOVES the "baby cappuccino" but hasn't been sleeping well lately... I'm not sure why? :)) Throw out the Keurig and get one of these. It practically pays for itself with the cost of bulk beans vs K-cups, and the maintenance is very simple. Once a month I disassemble the workings of the milk carafe into six pieces and throw them into the dishwasher silverware basket. Brew group is bulletproof. Be sure to descale on schedule with "special cleaner" or citric acid (NOT vinegar).

Hi Alison, Sorry yoou are having troubles. Here's a link to a video covering causes of error 5: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/o9Saoqhzp6iWqYk.html the #5 error is caused by the machine not being able to move water. This can be caused by the water drawer not being fully inserted, failure to properly prep the in reservoir water filter by soaking and a couple of other issues covered in the video.

I am considering this machine because my Gaggia Brera doesn't grind the beans as finely as I would like (even on its finest setting). Can the Velasca (on its finest setting) grind the coffee finer than the Brera (on its finest setting). Thank you!
@Wholelattelovepage

Hi T, Thanks for the question. The grind size will be similar on the Velasca. And, that will be the case with bean to cup machines regardless of manufacturer. For finer grinding you'll need to go to a semi-automatic machine and separate grinder.

Hi YS, Thanks for the question. Sounds like your cappuccino was reprogrammed at lower volumes. You can reprogram to your preferred volume of milk and espresso by pressing and holding the drink button you want to reprogram. Once the display says "memo" you can let go of the button. Allow the milk to dispense and press the check mark button once you have the amount you want in your cup. The machine will then dispense the espresso. once you have the amount of espresso you want press the check mark button and those amounts will be stored and used next time. Hope that helps! Marc

Hi aa, Thanks for the comment. We will! I am not intimately familiar with the Caribou coffees. The varieties you mention are at opposite ends of the spectrum. For lighter roast with sweetness fruit and floral tones we currently have a Kenyan AA blend: www.wholelattelove.com/joe-bean-kenya-aa-gachirago It's roasted locally and fresh. For a darker roast you could try a Mocha Java: www.wholelattelove.com/trinidad-coffee-mocha-java-2-2lb-whole-bean

Hi Mark, we have had our Valasca now almost 3 years and love the machine, would not trade it for nothing,. We ran into a small problem maybe you can advise what we are doing wrong or if maybe we need to replace something, Our Milk carafe when you take it from fridge and hook it up to machine, hit Cappuccino the machine tries to empty all of the milk from Carafe into mug, it is washed and cleaned over and over but it sometimes (and rather frequently) likes doing this, I have tried to run the auto clean to warm up the tube and clear anything prior to making Cappuccino but still it seems to want to do this sometimes and we end up with a rather colder milky concoction. Any advice?
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 2 жыл бұрын
Hi NJT, Happy to hear your are loving your Velasca! Unless there's some fault with the machine problems with milk frothing are most often caused by cleaning issues with the carafe components. Not saying this is the case with your machine - especially since you say you've cleaned it over and over. Not quite sure if your cleaning is the automatic while the carafe is attached to the machine or if you are disassembling the frothing components of the carafe and cleaning manually or both. If you have not fully disassembled and cleaned the arm of the carafe which delivers the milk that's were to start. Automatic cleaning doesn't always get everything - especially if some milk residue dries on or builds up on internal components. The frothing arm disassembles into 5 pieces. Here's a video showing how to take it apart and clean. The video shows the process on a Gaggia Cadorna carafe but the top end of your carafe is essentially identical: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r9Wep8aBndfJiKc.html Hope that helps! Marc

Question what’s the best coffee beans to use in these machines? I usually get the coffee from Sams or Costco but notice my beans are way darker and oily than yours. Also do you have a video on best grind size for espresso to coffee on these machines
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Katya, Thanks for the question. It's best to stay away from beans with anything more than random visible oil spots. Oily beans can clog the grinders of super-automatic machines. And here's a tip: Beans with excessive surface oils are generally over-roasted to hide deficient bean quality. You end up tasting the roast and not the flavor of the bean. For grind size for espresso I always recommend starting off with the grinder set to it's finest grind setting. If you already have beans in the machine you will need to make grind size adjustments one setting finer, brew a shot and then one setting finer again and repeat if needed. Or, you can make larger adjustments finer when the grinder is actually in the process of grinding. To do that you'll need to trick the bean hopper lid sensor with a magnet. Notice the little magnet in the lid near the pre-ground bypass doser. It activates a sensor that looks like a little stick mounted in the outside edge of the bypass doser's throat. Using a small magnet like a fridge magnet you can trick the machine into thinking the hopper lid is in place allowing the machine to grind without having the lid on to make large grind size adjustments all at once. Know it's okay to make adjustments to a coarser setting in big jumps without the grinder running. If you set to the finest grind setting and are getting bitter flavors try backing off a notch or two coarser to correct. For coffee beans there's no one size fits all answer. Depends on personal taste. If you like a more traditional Italian style espresso flavor with nice crema one of my go to coffees is Maromas Orphea. Roasted in Italy It's reasonably priced at ~$10/lb and gets excellent customer reviews: www.wholelattelove.com/products/maromas-orphea-whole-bean-espresso A step up is Crema Wave. Unlike most classic Italian bean blends it uses 100% specialty grade Arabica beans and is roasted locally so it's a lot fresher: www.wholelattelove.com/products/whole-latte-love-crema-wave-whole-bean-espresso If you like something a little more powerful and darker Carraro Globo Rosso is worth a try: www.wholelattelove.com/products/carraro-globo-rosso Here's a video with 5 of our favorite coffees to try in 2022. All 3 of the above are covered in the video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nJpmdKSBt7u6k4E.html Hope that helps! Marc

Hello Mark, I just received this from you today. I got some questions! 1. When I choose to increase the temperature of the coffee and make it as hot as it allows me, does that also increase the temperature of the water that comes out of the spout (for tea etc)? 2. There is no reference in the manual about what the pre-infusion does and what the difference is between "on" and "extra". 3. How can I adjust the volume for the hot water, so that I don't have to stand there and hit the button two or three times just to fill one cup? Thank you!
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael, Thanks for your purchase and questions. I'm here to help! 1. Coffee temp programming does not affect water temp for hot water delivery. Regardless of coffee temp setting hot water is delivered at about 190F after stabilizing. 2. Pre-infusion wets the coffee briefly prior to full pressure extraction. In general pre-infusion swells the coffee resulting in a deeper more robust extraction and potentially more crema. Using "extra" results in a longer delay so more time for coffee to be affected by pre-wetting prior to extraction. 3. Amount of hot water delivered is not programmable. Hot water delivery will stop automatically after about 10oz is delivered. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have more questions! Marc

You're welcome I'm sure she'll come to love it! Tip: do play with the grind size. Go finer for espresso and coarser for longer coffees. Makes a big difference! You can adjust coarser without the grinder running. When adjusting finer more than a stop or two only do so with the grinder running.
@MS-qj1un
@MS-qj1un 6 жыл бұрын
Yes will do, though it will stop grinding as soon as I take the lid off, and there is no access to the grinder setting with the lid on. Currently there is no way to adjust while it is running, or am I missing something?
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 6 жыл бұрын
Sorry, forgot about that safety feature! You can defeat that and run the grinder with the lid off by holding a magnet near the bypass doser. If you look you'll see the magnet in the hopper lid - mimic that position. Be very careful you do not drop the magnet into the grinder if you try that! Otherwise you can make grind adjustments without running the grinder. Just don't go more than 1-2 stops finer per adjustment without the grinder running.

I received this machine from you this week and was able to unpack and try it today. I can't get it to froth correctly. The first time I tried only water came out and it made a horrible screeching noise that actually hurt my ears. I tried it several times and it got to the point that at the end of the attempted frothing finally some milk came out, not frothed. I thought maybe the milk container's frothing unit was clogged and tired rinsing it out. I couldn't see water flowing out either end when I rinsed both ends and the milk in the plastic tube never cleared. So I tried blowing through each and and I got a new horrible high pitched sound. I tried finding an answer on your site, but it linking me to issues with this machine that didn't have the auto frother, just the wand and explained issues with that. I really don't need problems right now with something I paid this much money for. It's not my first purchase from you as I had a Delonghi super automatic for several years, so it isn't my first rodeo.

Hi Isiena, Yes it does. These machines can be programmed to deliver a standard sized coffee. They have adjustable grinders so you can use a finer grinder to make espresso and a coarser grind for a taller long coffee. They use a brewing process that's similar to a Keurig but far better. Brewing from freshly ground whole beans the quality blows away what you get from expensive plastic cups filled with pre-ground coffee.

Hi SGV, Thanks for the question. Yes you can. Here's what I would do. Program the Cappa button to make 1oz/30ml espresso and 5oz/150ml of milk froth. Very easy to program. Just press and hold the button until "memo" appears in display then release. Milk froth will dispense first. When you have the volume of milk desired press the button with check mark next to it. Espresso will then dispense. When desired amount of espresso is dispensed press the check mark button again. Those volumes will be stored. From there, gently stir the drink. The espresso and steamed milk will combine below a layer of frothy milk on top for a classic caffe latte presentation! Hope that helps! Marc

@Wholelattelovepage 6 жыл бұрын
pump flow to get boiling hot you will have to froth manually. If you want a bean to cup super auto the Gaggia Accademia or Gaggia Babila have manual wands in addition to automatic carafe frothing. Other options are the Breville Barista Touch or Oracle Touch. The Brevilles are semi automatic machines with built in grinders. They have auto frothing with temperature and froth density settings. They go up to 170F milk temp. That’s not boiling of course but far hotter than a barista would ever go!
