If you were in middle school or just starting high school in 1975, and newly-allowed by the parents to say up late on Friday and Saturday nights to watch "The Midnight Special" and "Don Kirshner's Rock Concert," and his later "In Concert" series, then you caught the rock flicks "Song of the Succubus" and "Rock a Die, Baby" that aired directly after "In Concert." While most girls fell for Kim Milford, and some for Stash Wagner, the guys lost their heart to Gaille Heidemann.
And hearts broke when we tuned in for the "third" episode that never came . . . and you couldn't find any Gaille Heideman albums or other movie appearances. But Kim showed up in the films "Laserblast" and "Corvette Summer" in 1978.
Gaille Heidemann began her recording career with two cuts for the soundtrack to "Valley of the Dolls" (1967) lip-synced by actress Patty Duke. You can listen to Gaille's work on that film at • It's Impossible and • Give A Little More (both uploaded by others).
As a member of Moon fronted by Kim Milford, she appeared in the Don Kirshner-produced films centered on the band, "Song of the Succubus" and "Rock a Die, Baby" (1975). In addition cutting two songs for the Texas-produced and shot action film "Sno-Line" (1985), she became a noted video-game and animation voice artist.
Stevie Nicks ain't got nuthin' on Gaille. What an incredible, Janis Joplin-like voice.
1. "Sno-Line Blues" (from Sno-Line, aka Texas Godfather)
2. "100 Proof Love" (from Sno-Line, aka Texas Godfather)
3. "Can't Make My Eyes Behave" (from "Song of the Succubus"): This was the "signature song" of '40s stage starlet Olivia Deems that the band remade for a movie on her life -- and awoke her restless spirit. Only Olivia possessed and made Gaille sing it the "right way."
