I think that miracles often open the hearts of people who don't believe in Jesus yet. Miracles leading people to faith serve a greater purpose for salvation. For believers I suppose it's more about a lesson of trust and growth despite going through challenges. I remember the convoy BTW Jesus and Lil James in season 3 ep2: Some people need a miracle of healing in order to believe in God. For Lil James him NOT getting healed at that moment is part of his special calling.

Miracles are a great signpost to Jesus' main game of bringing salvation to all who believe. And I was also thinking about that conversation from the start of Season 3 between Jesus and Little James (when they were outside talking in this episode in Season 4). A lot of contrasts being made through The Chosen between situations of physical healing and what this indicates about where true salvation resides. Although I felt there were too many major themes which converged in this one episode, I do like that they are being aired and we are being forced to consider them.

I agree that part of intentionality in packed episodes. Everything is coming to spiral around Jesus and his followers... the packed nature of episodes allows us to viscerally feel that tension.

I have always liked how they pick out OT verses that we are not as familiar with and connecting them to NT events - like Psalm 77, and Isaiah 43:1. It reminds me that the whole Bible is worthy of our attention and God is the same. I loved this episode. -So far the 2nd and the 4th are my favorites this season.

It was mind-blowing for sure ; nonetheless, with Mr. Jenkins ' explanations, I UNDERSTAND why! (Thank you so much for taking the time to explain to all of us, Mr. Jenkins!) And...I respect the choice. ... and I am still eager to see what is coming!! :)) helene from Quebec, Canada

Hi Helene. That's great that you took the time to hear Dallas Jenkins' explanation for where The Chosen is going and the decisions it is making. Seems like you might not necessarily agree with all of those choices (like me!) but, at the same time, you respect The Chosen for its ambition and purpose. Yes, I am also eager to see what is coming soon

There is a time jump of months in this episode that the montage covers, which accounts for Thomas’ grief being more numb and muted than acute throughout the entire episode. Sometimes a time jump is the best way to move a story forward plot wise when you have a lot of events to get to.

I think they are setting up Thomas with a melancholic spirit visible in the gospel later, resulting from Ramah’s death….

Yeah, it sure makes some sense to imagine what might have led to Thomas being a prominent "doubter" among the disciples. Even as all or most of the disciples in the four Gospels are often displayed as not getting Jesus or what he's fully about. Understandable, though, as they reveal to us just how challenging it can be to grasp Jesus. The magnitude and facets of Jesus. Thank God for the power of insight and conviction provided through the Holy Spirit (which the disciples were also assisted by!)
