The 7th and final part of Galapagos! Thanks to everyone who's listened and commented. Please share these with anyone you know that might be into Kurt Vonnegut or just never got around to reading him. Let me know in the comments what book of his you'd like to hear or what you think might make a good fit for my voice. I'm trying to decide between Dead Eye Dick, Player Piano or Slapstick next. It may take a while to read through them, but I'll be putting up longer samples from the audiobooks I have on Audible in the meantime. You're gonna get a kick out of those.
In this part, we learn how the little human colony of Santa Rosalia survives it's harsh environment, and then in a million years how humanity is saved from itself. We see little furry Akiko grow up to become the matriarch of her clan and witness the final leg of the journey for The Nature Cruise Of the Century. Most importantly, we hear what our Narrator has learned in the course of his million years watching humanity and finally, how he ended up in Malmo, Sweden to begin with.

Hi! I can't thank you enough for uploading this audiobook. Over the past few months, thanks to a Vonnegut studies class, I've come to absolutely treasure his books. Your recording has made it possible for me to wrangle my ADHD and get through what has become my favorite novel of his, no doubt thanks in part to the fantastic reading you did of it. I'm in college to become a teacher, and Galapagos is something that I'm now keen to show students, both to expose them to Vonnegut's work and to the messages he has to say about humanity, nature, and the way that they fit together. I'm sure I'll be directing kids to your audiobook in the future, just as I direct my classmates to it now. I can't thank you enough for the work you've put into making Vonnegut's texts more accessible and enjoyable.

Thank you for the amazing compliment, that really made my day! I'll have more Vonnegut soon as I've picked the next book to record. Had to re-read a few to get to one that really hit me as having something to say about the times we're experiencing now. All of them are weirdly prescient. Part of what makes them timeless I guess. Vonnegut had a great respect for people who went into teaching. It's one of the professions people are drawn to out of something else besides money. Especially besides money. You could be the Mary Hepburn of your own story.

Would you do more Kurt like Breakfast of champion and Slaughterhouse-five? I find it's so interesting to listen to you 😄

Weird you would mention that! I happen to be re-reading Breakfast of Champions currently as one I might record after I finish the Slapstick edit.Thank you very much for the kind comments, It's been really interesting and fun to see how much Vonnegut means to so many people!

@@rongabaldon9206 love the tone changing with different characters, so precisely delivered and helped me so much in getting the context. Also when there is an arterisk you add a ukulele stroke which is nice touch. You made it much more interesting than the book itself.

I find some of Vonnegut's books entertaining. Looking inside the mind of a nihilist is at the same time is disconcerting. I can't fathom the hopeless and meaningless of his world. Perhaps it' comes partly from his war experiences but assuredly from the emptiness of Darwinism.
