8:30 to talk about why the Pokémon on Slowbro’s tail is called Shellder, in the first season anime it was touched upon that it IS in fact Shellder, but once it bites Slowpoke’s tail, it evolves alongside Slowpoke. However, as it can’t be removed, the scientists in that universe have yet to classify this unique evolution, and therefore still call it Shellder. Just thought that was interesting enough to share, if I’m wrong please let me know

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that G-Slow*king* can only be found in the *Crown* Tundra. A heart? You shouldn’t have! It’s been a little while since this video is out, but I just realized something about G-Slowpoke: the whole reason slowbro and slowking become sharper and less “slow,” so to speak, is because the shellder biting them releases *toxins* into their bodies that effect their thinking. Yeah. *Toxins.* Is it possible that G-Slowbro’s likely poison typing could come as a result of fully absorbing the toxins of a shellder?

I’m pretty sure both Slowbro and Slowking will be the same typing; my guess: Psychic/Poison. Two reasons: 1.) Your new DLC rival introduces this Pokémon to you and coincidentally one of those two rivals is a Psychic-type trainer which is what Galarian Slowpoke is. The other rival is a Poison-type trainer. 2.) Galarian Slowbro and Slowking have bits of their body now shaded in a purple color, and what typing is usually associated with purple: Poison. Game Freak loves color coding their Pokémons. You could say these are all coincidences but Game Freak does a good job of covering their bases so I highly doubt it. This is just my two cents.

also, the official site mentions that slowpoke eats galarica seeds, which produce galarica spice inside slowpoke. this spice occasionally snaps slowpoke into reality, similarly to the toxins in shellder's bite, but it then fades away. i think it gains the ability to produce the toxins from the galarica spice on its own and gains control of its mind without the need for a shelder, causing it to evolve. "The Slowpoke of the Galar region used to eat the seeds of a certain plant that grew in their habitat, as this was their favorite food. These seeds were in fact Galarica seeds, used to this day as an essential spice for cooking. The Slowpoke in Galar built up particles of this spice in their bodies over several generations, eventually gaining the unique appearance and behavior they are known for today." The problem is that Game Freak loves to write lore but seems to forget story. Also you'll only get Slowbro or Slowking in one of the two DLC packs. Likely released in Dex order.

Based on how the yellow tinge turns purple when it evolves, I think it's pretty likely that Galarian Slowbro and Slowking will be Psychic/Poison type. There is a sort of color theory in Pokemon relating to types, and purple generally means "poison". This could be due to the Mareanie or whatever biting down and injecting poison, giving it the additional typing.

It seems pretty likely to me that Galarian Slowbro/Slowking will be Psychic/Poison. The 2 Visitors from the DLC are Psychic and Poison types, and still makes sense with the Mearanie/corruption idea and adds the layer of “the poisoned king” to the inspiration too

The three waves on the slowpoke's head reminds me of Wifi-Wave. Surf gets whole new meaning.

Psychic/Poison. Instead of learning Water Gun at level 6, Galarian Slowpoke learns Acid, this being the only move difference between the two. Notably, the only Pokemon that can learn Acid naturally are either Poison-types themselves, the Tympole line, whose final form has Poison Touch as an ability, Bellossom, who's related to the Poison-type Oddish line, the Shelmet line, whose Pokedex entries mention they can spit poison, the Lileep and Eelektrik lines who can also learn Gastro Acid, which has a fair bit of exclusivity in itself, and Lickitung, who somehow DOESN'T learn Gastro Acid given...well, you know, what Lickitung does best. Also, the new rivals for the DLC are Poison and Psychic users, so it would make sense that the first DLC Pokemon available will end up as both of their main types. Also also, if what you mentioned about Mareanie ends up being right, and Mareanie is Poison-type, Slowpoke would have to end up being Poison-type.

The eye and such we can see of the Slowking's "hat" reminds me of a Ghastly's purple gas. Perhaps a reference to the death of monarchy as a form of government? By which I mean the decline of power from the various thrones into the more representative governments of today? Admittedly it would refer to France more with their, um, decapitating revolutionaries than the semi-gentle decline of the British crown, but Slowking are now but a ghost of what they had been, back when they were true regal kings, the kind the rest of the world still has.

I always found it interesting that the person you meet for the DLC depends on the version of the game, one being a psychic type user and the other being a poison type user. Since Slowpoke looks important for both, I would imagine the evolution would be poison/psychic. I don't recall that type combination being used yet and that way both girls could thematically have one.

Ghost fits for Slowking too. Ghost type pokemon are more evil than any dark types, and that miasmic clowd with the eye and tooth poking out behind the scribbles gives me a Gastly vibe.

in the episode "The Evolution Solution" it is theorised shelder changes form to better suck the nectar like substance that slopoke fishes with from its tail, also suprised you didnt mention how slowpokes legs are drooped behind it since you mentioned how depending on the version the fisher kings legs were injured (makes more sense for pokemon company to choose that version than to describe why a reginal variant cant breed)

I think it'd be cool if Avery and Klara used Galarian Slowbro/king because I think the purple bits of coloration and what little we can see of what's on or around Galarian Slowking's head could suggest it being Psychic/Poison type. Speculation on my part, but would be cool since Psychic/Poison is an unused type combination, plus that Galarian Slowpoke you can get from the train station knows Acid.

What you said about Galarian Slowbro's arm made me think of Oswald (who was king of Northumbria). He had his left hand blessed by St. Aidan, and his hand and arm supposedly 'remained uncorrupted' after death. It's a stretch, but Maybe we'll get a ghost-psychic Slowbro relating to this?

I've been using galarian slowpoke in doubles, underrated trick room setter imo. Can use yawn to stop dynamax mons and bulldoze for weakness policy shenanigans

I absolutely love how Slowpoke, a usually forgotten gen 1 pokemon as well as my personal favorite pokemon is now getting so much attention and will most likely be a major part of the upcoming dlc (Also I have the same Slowpoke plushie, I got it from a convention)

Another interesting thing is that Slowbro and Slowking both get tinted purple, and purple is often associated with royalty in Europe, so this could tie back to the Arthurian mythos, especially Mordred.

i think the easiest guess for the type Galarian Slowbro/Slowking will get is Psychic/Poison. it eats spicy plants, which if translated into the real world presumably contains capsaicin, which is poisonous to bugs and other pests. also, the two pals you meet in the DLCs are Psychic and Poison type users.

If it is a Psychic/Poison type that would most likely mean either of the new rivals you gain on the Isle would be able to use it with their type theme. It could very much be the Dark Knight/Evil King for that purpose.

It’s a want of mine for these two evolutions to have different typings. Psychic/Poison for Slowbro and Psychic/Ghost for Slowking. But I suppose being the same type should be on my radar.

The thing on Galarian Slowking looks like Spiritomb's ghostly aura, my own headcanon, until we get some more info, is that Slowpoke in the Tundra formed a symbiotic relationship with Spiritomb who don't have the safety of the odd Keystone and they both mutually benefit because Spiritomb gets a safe harbor in the Slowpoke's body and Slowpoke (now Slowking) gets access to Spiritomb's spectral powers, tempered by Slowking's intellect and psychic prowess (ghost/Psychic type) making them a kingly rival to Calyrex.

Actually, in the corner of the visible image before the scribble, you can see a faint corner of Shelder still acting as the crown.

Gnoggin I've been looking into my own theory of this that I think you might appreciate. I was looking at this galarian slowking and noticed if you zoom in on the squiggles crossing out the head, there's a very slight opening on the bottom. I see an eye and a dull rounded tooth that seems to be encasing over slowking's head. From the faded purple that I can see from the small opening I think slowking might turn into a ghost type with many ghost type pokemon having that faded see through purple. But I think you're on the right track with saying that what if a pokemon bit onto the arm instead of the tail and the arm being used as a mace. My theory is what if it's a koffing, if you look at koffing's mouth the teeth in it's mouth are very similar to the tooth of the creature encasing slowkings' head. So what if for slowbro if the koffing bite's down on the arm it evolves into a psychic/poison type since many weapons can be coated or dipped in poison; with it using the koffing attached to it's arm as a weapon like a mace just as you said and if the koffing bites onto the slowpokes' head then it evolves into a psychic/ghost type with the "spirit" of koffing surrounding it's head. Like perhaps when a someone in a royal family kills a family member to take over the throne or to be the next in line for the throne; living with the guilt of the blood of someone that they killed looming over their head as a constant reminder of their horrible dark action they committed. Plus with it "merging" with koffing it would help explain the purple coloring. Just food for thought but would love your thoughts on this knowing this channel being a theory channel. Which is one of the best pokemon theory channels I believe to exist on youtube.

Shellder on Galar Slowking's Head: LOOK AT ME, I... AM THE KING NOW

Honestly the new slowpoke reminds me of Merlin from the movie Excalubur. Look at merlin in the movie and he has a silver half helm looking thing covering his head in almost the same way. Plus while we dont see the look of the new slowking we do see his outfit which to me looks more reminiscent of say a wizards robes.

I noticed that the shelder crown on slowking takes up more of its head.

@Lockstin & Gnoggin , Galahad is also Lancelot's illegitimate son, and the big reason why he was unworthy was because he didn't own up to him and the whole deal with Guinevere. Funny thing is that Percival's Legend was never finished, because the author died, so Galahad finishing his journey for him is a bit eh.

I have two thoughts about it. It's possible that Shellder is just a general name, kind of like how we have a variety of dogs. Either that or they're the same Pokemon that just chooses to make their home in different kinds of shells, in which case it's the Pokemon inside the shell that matters, not the shell itself, in terms of classification.

Slowpoke and its evolutions are -mon's I've always wanted to use but haven't gotten around to using. This gives me a good excuse to go for it and not a perhaps stronger water type, just to change things up and for the challenge it may bring.
