Absolutely stunning: people just have to remember that they probably spent millions of dollars on equipment in cranes and lights and sets to make this video. While it is capable of doing this, most videos that average people take won't look anything close to it.

More proof that skill and knowledge are far more important than gear. Though, gi en how heavily color-graded this appears to be I am impressed that it didn't fall apart. I have to assume some kind of log or RAW format was used. Impressive showing for a phone camera!

MotionCam lets you film in Raw DNG on other Andriod phones. My Ultra S22 does and if they had filmed this in Raw DNG, it would have looked even better. I'd like to see the BTS of this.

Due the sensor size that all is in focus really helps with the grittiness Sir Ridley Scott wants to transmit. About the story itself, it is more of an uplifting allegory I think.

The S23 Ultra's video recording really is a step up compared to the previous generations 👍. Even the portrait video is improved to 4k resolution. I hope the phone just doesn't overheat so much when using the camera or recording videos.

Yeah, 90% of the value you're seeing here is the effect of an award winning director, a film crew, and a whole bunch of gimbals, cranes, and car rigs to hold those phones steady while they captured the shots. The scenes are fairly carefully chosen to work within the limitations of the camera, and even with that, the shadows in several parts are just totally gone, no detail at all. There's visible ISO noise in several random parts (the guy's face giving the monologue in particular, which is weird because that looks like pretty good lighting). This smartphone isn't replacing even an entry level interchangeable lens camera (like a Sony A6400) yet.

It's important to realize that this is a phone, and even if the S23 can't match the quality of a professional camera, the ad should be enough to inspire amateur creators or just plain folks. A video with a story isn't just about the tools.

@@smithrodger9283 in many ways it matches that. it also shoots 8K 30fps and 4K 60 fps so i would say its on par. now if were talking about newer cameras then no. but youre getting quite a bit for a 1/3 of the price of just the camera body.

As for smartphones this blows any new flagship out of the water. But most people that shoot with real cameras can see the noise and grain compensation they had to edit and reduce in post. Amazing work though‼️

They marketed this as a revolution, but nobody is gonna use a smartphone to film a real movie, especially an iPhone that gonna be full in 1 min. Honestly I'm beginning to think Apple is for dummies.

If the story and message is brilliant it doesn't matter how you shoot it. Obviously actresses and direction will be an essental part to bring that story to real moving and beautiful frames

there are some shots (camera and subject moving) that don't approach what we expect with 24fps filmmaking, but my 74 yo mom couldn't tell the difference between this and traditional film. she watched soderbergh's iphone movies and never noticed they were shot on a phone

Bullcrap. Just a marketing ploy. Check the S23 camera samples on gamarena or elswhere. Terrible processing, oversharpened mess. And for this film, additional rig was used that housed the phone, probably because Samsung's image stabilization wasn't enough. Also some additional lenses were used as well as mics, and a lot of postprocessing. All in all, lots of additional tech, devices and rigs that cost way more than actual phone were used to create this. Very little to do with S23. And no, ordinary people will not be able to recreate video on this level just with a phone. And you can take any newer smartphone put it in rig like that, and video would look amazing.

Don't think so , some time ago Fujitsu use photo to show how good photo can make camera but one guy check orginal exfi file and was make by Canon probably case go to the court 🙂 why Fujitsu use different brand photos to advertise there stuff 😉, Samsung probably not that stupid, and yes post-processing is normal when they make advertise, and I'm sure 100% this is recorded by s23ultra, they use lights stands stability everything, but recorded by s23u
