I've just bought a Fold 3 and it's a great phone. The front screen does its job, it's there for phone calls, quick texts, and checking the internet. It's amazing how quickly I've adapted to opening the phone up for everything else. As to the cameras. I still think my old Galaxy S7 takes amazing photos. Phone cameras these days require pixel peeping to try and say which is better.

I get where you're coming from my dude, for sure. For me personally (I can only speak for myself), I'm actually liking the upgrade more and more as time goes on. I was initially very underwhelmed, I mean there's not much difference physically. But after time has gone on, I'm finding myself using the outer front screen a A LOT more on the Fold 4 than the 3, that little extra width really starts to become prevalent after some time. Not at first, but after time. I also appreciate the how much brighter both the outer and main display get. I'm stuck out in direct sunlight every day when I pick my kids up from school, and that extra brightness makes a huge difference for my use case. The cameras don't seem much different, until you lower the lights. That's when I notice the 4 starting to outshine the 3, but not by a big margin. Most folks shouldn't upgrade every year anyways, besides us in the tech scene. It doesn't matter if you go Samsung, Apple, or some other brand, there's just not enough meat on the bone to upgrade every year. I don't think Samsung nor Apple are expecting us to either, that's sort of something that folks just started assuming. For most folks though, yeah, I totally agree with you. For me though, the yearly update has met my expectations so far. I hope you're having a great weekend!

Once again, you've given us a real review on something that everyone raves about, but probably isn't using like a regular person would. I still have a Note 10+ and I've considered the Fold 3, but with the new Fold 4 out, I've debated which phone would be better. Specs wise, both phones seem on par with each other with - as you said - some features on the 4, which...honestly, I honestly don't care about how pretty the cameras are; I'm not a photographer, I'm a writer. So my initial want of the 4 was the ability to have the S pen as part of the phone (like I have with the Note 10), but I can also get a case that would hold a pen (and you sure as hell bet I'd get a case) For that reason alone - the ability to get some quick work done, either at work or while out - I would consider the 3; it's also cheaper. I mean, for $2000 I could upgrade my Chromebook, upgrade both of my 24 inch monitors, and upgrade my video card. Actually, with that said, could this phone be used as a 2nd screen? I don't really use Dex with my Note 10, but the 3/4 seem like devices that actually benefit those uses.

Yes, i agree if there is no pen on the outside display then that eliminates the off screen memo feature but you also need in body spen then that really makes the spen worthless if you have to start an app and find a stylus. That is why im not fooling with the Fold

If they put a pen in the phone the pen would be small like the pen in the S22 Ultra. I would rather have a larger pen than have one that's in the phone. Maybe they should use magnets like they do for the Tab S8 in order to have a larger pen.

If you have a z fold 3, then yes you probably shouldnt upgrade. But if you dont have the z fold 3 definitrly get the z fold 4. That little camera difference does make a difference.

Had the 3 now have the 4. Completely disagree with this video. External screen - it's a big difference in usability, now i can use it confortably due to being wider. Battery life - the difference is staggering. Weight - not much difference but 4 is lighter Processor - HUGE improvement on the 4 Cameras - HUGE improvement on the 4. U say slightly better?? LOL!!

I got scammed in spending another $1100 for the fold4. Samsung rejected my fold3 trade in. I sold my fold3 off for 650 and paid another thousand plus for next to no practical improvements. Almost exactly same front display. Minor difference made usability better but mabey 2 millimeters reallyisnothing. Only this video pointed the truth. Slightly better battery life, but almost the same(!) if I keep the fold3 on battery saver... I still had to do optimization tricks to make it last most of day. Slightly better rear camera, which is only noticeable when using video... what a scam they got me for over a thousand for very small improvements ... dammit. So I am looking at Google fold or oppo fold next as they will have real front screens. The new update is only noticable having more S pen options which I rarely use, so that is the only advantage Samsung will have over the competition next year but I am jumping ship regardless because front screen is still too thin.

The front display being larger is not an illusion. Yes, both screens are 6.2 inches, but that's because you measure it by the diagonal. Fold4 provides more screen area due to its more square aspect ratio. The wider display is the more usable one at these extreme aspect ratios. As an example, the newly released Pixel Fold has a 5.8 inch front screen, yet it's much more usable due to the more square aspect ratio.

Z Fold is horrible. Unless foldable phones become more durable or easier to repair, they are like exotic cars. They look cool, but they are too pricey and are a nightmare for a repairman.

I've had the Fold 3 for a year now and the cameras are very good. Im confused when I hear people bad mouthing the Fold 3 cameras. Took the 3 and 4 out last weekend and took pictures with both and the pictures were very similar. The 4 has a bit more detail in certain shots but you have to really look to see the differences. Thanks for dropping gems!

I know I commented earlier,but what I wanted to see is a larger inner display 5000 m amp battery,ultra style cameras,even if an s pen can't fit in the device,at least we,de have that,tired of samsung downscaling it's own product for smaller thinner lighter,you fold the dam thing,how much smaller does samsung want it,their not making this device to what we want anymore,sad but true,samsung is getting trumped in size and lightness but the xaumi device and sansung does not care,I don't like that,samsung needs to do 10 times better than its doing.

I'm a little pissed they don't have pen support for the front display and include it in the device even if they raised the price a little. It may be a supply chain problem or something like that but even still for the money you could have the ultimate mobile device which is what the fold should embody, but, it doesn't unfortunately.

I can't believe Samsung has managed to get people to believe that upgrading a device that cost $2,000 should be the norm every year! If you look all over the Reddit groups, there are people talking about how they want to upgrade from their Z-Fold 3 which I just find ridiculous
