Your wall looks fantastic Mate. My service rifle in SADF service was the R5 which that almost is exackly only differance I seen is the bigger sight ring on the R5 and a slightly differant welding point for the wire for the front liing. best rifle for bush war the R 5 . best bush carbine ever. thank You. I cleaned mine. never jammed. My NCO never creaned his in our 18 month tour. never jammed.because we shot off all our ammo. Before going home never jammed.

Absolutely heartbreaking to see a nice machine destroyed like that.

Not just destroyed but destroyed and sold for a ludicrous amount of money

Kinda funny the parts that are controlled in Britain are totally unregulated in the U.S, and the parts that are unregulated in Britain are totally illegal here in the States. In the U.S the only part that is considered a firearm is the receiver, everything else can be purchased with no Id or serialization. So that deactivated gun would be considered an unregistered machine gun here, because those welds could be cut, and the components replaced with off the shelf parts to make a functional unregistered gun.

Yep. Owning this in the us would get you a nice 10 year vacation at club fed

Hi just want to say i made a mistake in the video, when you strip the gun the bolt cannot be removed.only the recoil spring & guide rod plus the gas tube can be fully removed, cheers geoff

Brits get to have the cool guns that don't shoot and we Americans have the bastardized versions that do.

Its like ,you cant win either way. Stay safe bro. 🙂

I thought the current UK EU spec, has a pin placed in the receiver, then notches cut into the mag, to allow the mag to still fit the deac.

Can you really buy a deactivated Galil or similar in the UK with it's strict laws without a license? That would be awesome but I am skeptical
@hellrazer76812 жыл бұрын
Yes you can
@Gunsandscience2 жыл бұрын
Of course you just have to be 18 and that’s it
@Kralkuscov6 күн бұрын
Yeah, you can also purchase FULLY FUNCTIONAL firearms IF their caliber is deemed obsolete or difficult to obtain/make in the UK. Oh and you don't need a license of it, you just need proof you're 18

what is done to deactivate them?
@m3zgm3 жыл бұрын
Cant tell you exactly what is done. It looks like they weld part of the bolt which houses the firing pin into the barrel and they make a cut into part of the barrel and then fill it weld, and weld a couple of little bars at the back of the reciver so whats left of the bolt and gas piston can move under spring pressure but cant be remived

@@m3zgm Its a great looking piece...one of my all time favorites. I would love to see some pics of those areas they modify. Here in the USA we just got a bunch of SAR "kits". The receiver is torch cut into 4 pieces and the barrel cut into 3 pieces. Its a shame, but you can use all the remaining parts to build a semi auto version of the SAR. US companies make the barrel and receivers. The kits sell for about 300 US and the barreled receivers can be found for as little as 450 US.. So with a bit of work you can have a functional semi auto SAR for under 800 US
