That guy is so funny his humor is on par with Carlin...makes you think before you laugh...I watched this guy all through the 80's with friends I haven't seen for 30+ years....unfortunately so many people are lost in the political arena and to reunite with them could ruin all the good memories....I always thought the 60's/70's were the best of times but compared to the toxic society we live in today I would take the 80's in a heartbeat....R.I.P. I grew up in a very small town in northern Michigan in the 80’s and 90’s, where we couldn’t get HBO, and our only video rentals were a couple of mom and pop ones. But I vividly remember both rental stores having a whole row of Gallagher specials on VHS to rent. They had wild covers with watermelons, floating heads, etc. As a kid I was told by my parents they were too adult for me to watch. But they stuck with me and I knew who Gallagher was. As I got to be in middle school and high school in the 90’s, I was allowed to watch him finally, and started watching his routines. I could not get enough, and became a huge fan. I never got to see him live, but he’s still one of my very favorite comics to this day. A true icon of the 80’s for sure, but even after that. I was so sad to hear of his passing. I had heard he had some health issues, and saw a video a few years ago showing him at his house, which seemed kind of dilapidated and surprising for a celebrity, clearing out and selling some of his old classic props from his routine. It made me sad, but he was still being funny as he did it. We just don’t seem to have hardly any new talents like him, like we did in earlier decades. Whether it’s comics, actors, musicians, artists, politicians, you name it. I really miss that.
