For those uneducated on the ways of jazz, when jazzers call a blues, they don't mean blues style, they mean 12 bar blues chord changes, in a swinging style

Serious question : Are jazz players paying attention to their picking technique? Is picking a big subject for jazz players? Rock-metal players must be very cautious with their picking because long shreddy licks can be messy if one note is mis-picked up down or the other way around. But jazz players just glide their picking hand almost like not thinking at all but no notes are missed either arpeggio or fast scale.

Have studied and still revisit his invaluable FG Technique Book I from the late 80's, have numerous albums and saw him in the Elektric Band a couple of times.. Don't want to engage in a "who's the best" pointless discussion but amongst the top contemporary jazz fusion guitarists in his league (Henderson/Holdsworth/Coryell/Lagrene/Catherine/etc) I have to rank him #1 for the breadth of his stylistic creativity.. This video only proves it to me more than ever.. Such an inspiration, thanks Frank!

I wouldn't worry. There's plenty of amazing players who can't pull off Frank's monster licks (and don't try, and don't feel the need to) so just enjoy your guitar without trying to measure up to FG.

The DV Mark Frank Gambale signature "Ampli-tude" head. To my understanding, it's a more streamlined version of their "Multi Amp" with tones custom tweaked/preset by Frank according to his preferences.

Yeah, he kind of grew into his look. Now he looks like a nice badass. When he was trying to fit the 'rock' style, he really looked pretty terrible.

You're right talking about personal taste, but IMO Frank's skill is way better than GG, even if I like his style very much. The only '+' is that GG use tapping also, but his alternate and sweep cannot be compared to Frank... be honest. There are many players like GG, nobody like Frank :)

Jazz 'blues' has a different meaning than blues 'blues'.
